General Secretary Xi Jinping explicitly pointed out in the Central National Work Conference: To strengthen the great unity of The Chinese nation, the long-term and fundamental is to enhance cultural identity, build a common spiritual homeland for all ethnic groups, and actively cultivate consciousness of The Chinese nation community.Culture is the bloodline of the nation, the people' s spiritual homeland,an important force for national cohesion and creativity,an significant support for the nation's prosperity, and a “root” and “soul” for a nation.Among the “five identities”—Native identity,The Chinese nation identity,Chinese cultural identity,Chinese Communist identity and Chinese Socialism identity, the cultural identity is the deepest one.In that only when the cultural identity is achieved can other identities be acquired.China is a unified multi-ethnic country composed of 56 nationalities. The Chinese culture presents a multi-integration pattern,The Chinese culture is created by the 56 nations and is a whole, but the material culture and the distinctive spirit and culture of the different ethnic styles are pluralistic. Thus, guided by the Marxism basic principles, and supported by research data, this study bases on the Chinese cultural identity theory to systematically analyze the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Shangri-La city—a frontier and ethnically-inhabited area and try to find out the problems and the causes. Then, for the sake of promoting the national unity and stability in the frontier, the practical and effective measures are put forward to solve these problems. This study includes following three chapters:Chapter one: an overview of Chinese cultural identity theory.Firstly, this chapter systematically interprets Chinese cultural identity by clarifying its basic content which includes the material Chinese culture, spiritual Chinese culture, and institutional Chinese culture.Secondly,it clarifies the Chinese cultural identity rationale including the Marxist ideology theory, the Chinese socialism cultural theory, and the Chinese excellent traditional culture theory. Finally,it discusses the strategic significance of raising ethnic groups' Chinese cultural identity, which is conducive to promotingnational unity and border stability, realizing orderly social development, and achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Chapter two: an analysis towards the main trend and problems of ethnic group' s Chinese cultural identity in Shangri-La.Based on the research data, this chapter presents the main trend of ethnic group' s Chinese cultural identity in Shangri-La from 3 facets including cognitive identity, emotional identity and behavioral identity. The results show that their cultural identity presents a positive tendency, mainly manifesting in high degree of cultural awareness and behavioral recognition as well as a great affection for Chinese culture, while the problems include the intergroup differentiation, low awareness of socialist core values and some ethnic groups' emotional instability as well as the recognition and behavior separation,et al.Thus, considering the domestic and foreign factors, the study analyzes the main causes which could be the rapid social transformation and deep cultural integration, especially the inheritance and promotion of traditional culture, and the religious emotion attachment and release, the weak economic and social development, single cognitive channels, receiving information asymmetry as well as the inability of using Chinese mandarin,et al.Chapter three: the ways to strengthen ethnic groups' Chinese identity in Shangri-La.For the existing problems and main causes, this study provides practical and effective ways to enhance their Chinese cultural identity from 3 aspects: improving the Chinese cultural cognition, broaden internalized emotion ways and advancing the practical ability of Chinese cultural identity.
