Analysis On The Evolution Process And Influencing Factors Of China-ROK Geopolitical Relations In Recent Years

South Korea is an important channel connecting the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan,and its geographical position has a special geopolitical influence.After entering the 21 st century,the geographic pattern of Northeast Asia is more complicated than that during the Cold War.The trend of Sino-Korean geographical relations has a direct impact on the international situation in the surrounding Northeast Asia.Especially on the Korean Peninsula,the strategic choice of China and South Korea is very important.Therefore,it is of great practical significance for promoting Chinese national interests on the Korean Peninsula,Chinese national defense security on Northeast Asia and the implementation of Chinese geo-strategic policies to safeguard the development of China-South Korea relations.This paper uses event data analysis method to quantify the events of bilateral relations between China and South Korea from 2003 to 2017,and then summarizes the evolution characteristics and influencing factors of the geographic relationship between the two countries.Finally,suggestions and prospects are put forward for the development of bilateral relations between China and South Korea.Chapter 1 is the introduction,which mainly describes the research background and significance of the subject in detail,and then combs the domestic and foreign summaries of Sino-Korean relations and geographic relations.In addition,it summarizes the overall structure,research ideas,innovation and shortcomings of the paper.Chapter 2 mainly summarizes the theoretical research and application methods involved in the research.Chapter 3 summarizes the result characteristics of the evolution process of China-Korea geographic relationship through the calculation results of event data analysis.Chapter 4summarizes the factors affecting the geographic relationship between China and Korea by analyzing the results and characteristics of the evolution process of geographic relationship between China and Korea.Among them,the summary process is mainly based on three dimensions: national conditions(micro-scale),geo-location conditions(meso-scale),and international situation conditions(macro-scale).Chapter 5 puts forward some suggestions for the development of the relations between China and Korea.It is based on the theory of compound interdependence and the theory of balance of power order.Chapter 6 is the summary of the full text and the prospect of future research.Throughout the text,the following basic conclusions are concluded.Firstly,the characteristics of the evolution of the geopolitical relationship between China and Koreagenerally show four basic stages: rapid development stage(2003.01-2008.05),stable development stage(2008.05-2010.05),fluctuation adjustment stage(2010.05-2015.06)and fluctuation downward stage(2015.06-2017.12).Secondly,the changes of comprehensive national strength and power superiority,the political tendency and foreign policy of Korean leaders,geo-role,the intervention of extraterritorial powers,and the change of situation on the Korean Peninsula have far-reaching influence on the evolution of China-South Korea geo-relationship.Thirdly,the measures will be conducive to the sound development of Sino-Korean relations.It includes actively deepening the compound dependence relationship between China and Korea,establishing the multi-channel communication mechanism,establishment of multilateral cooperation mechanism based on balance of power order and so on.
