A Research On The Ritual Expression And Structure About Chinese Government Press Conference

Government press conference is an information release activity in which the government publishes news,expresses opinions and accepts questions from reporters on a particular event,so as to meet the needs of the public for the disclosure of government information.In a Ritual View of Communication,the press conference of the government is not only the activity of transmitting the information,but also the performance and construction of the ritual.Food and drug safety is a public health problem all over the world,which is closely related to the personal safety and is the most concerned topic of the public.From 2013 to 2018,a number of public health emergencies broke out in China,which aroused widespread social concern and affected social stability and economic development.China Food and Drug Administration held press conferences for many times,which is not only responsible for transmitting relevant information to the public.It also includes guiding public opinion by creating the focus of public opinion and dispelling public doubts in order to stabilize social order and maintain the image of the government.This paper selects 28 press conferences held by China Food and Drug Administration as research samples,based on the Ritual View of Communication to analyze that how the government press conference can be represented by ritualized communication.The participants in the ceremony are allowed to interpret the shared meaning and emotion of all kinds of symbols.This paper is divided into six chapters: the first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background,briefly reviews the research status of the ritual view of communication,discourse analysis and government press conference,as well as the significance and method of this paper are pointed out.The second chapter is based on the ritual view of communication,describes the ritual of the government press conference characteristics,points out that the government press conference by role structure,role behavior,time and space factors,situational factors such as the ritualization of performance characteristics of the public to specific field,make the public really absorb the government press conference content and concept.Chapter three explores the ritual construction of Chinese government press conference by means of discourse structure analysis.As a special ceremony,the government press conference has a prescribed procedure,which reflects the pattern of the ceremony.Through the analysis of the discourse structure of the prologue,answer to journalists' questions and conclusion and the trend of public opinion in the media feedback,this chapter points out that the normative language symbols are helpful to the ritual construction.The fourth chapter summarizes the aspects that need to be improved in the ritual construction of Chinese government press conference through the analysis of the previous chapter.The fifth chapter puts forward corresponding suggestions in order to provide reference for Chinese government departments to hold more effective press conferences.Chapter six is the conclusion.It points out the aspects to be improved while summarizing the conclusion.This paper found that the government press conference is not just a simple information transmission activity,but a ritual communication behavior with obvious ritualized characteristics,which is the emotional maintenance of the society in a specific spatial and temporal situation,aiming to make the two participants involved realize the cultural process of meaning sharing.
