The Study Of The Social Support Network Of The Elders And It's Relationgship With The Characteristics

ObjectivesTo analyze the social support which the government enforce to the elders and have an understand the status and the influence factors of the social support network of the elders.MethodsAccording to China Civil Affairs' Statistical Yearbook,we analyze the social support which the government given;by using multi-stage sampling survey,we investigated the number of 1090 older people above 60 years old of which we analyze the social support network.Results(1)The institutional support to the elders from Beijing government still need to be improved,and its enforcement need to be strengthened.The community was lack of pension resources for the elders.The efficiency and profitability of pension institutions were in a low level.The institutional endowment resources were still not enough,and there was still a large urban-rural gap.(2)The social support network was relative higher compared with the other groups.Compared with the emotional support network,the practical support network and social-interaction support network was relatively lower.The constitution of social support network was mainly based on the blood and geography bond.Personal characteristics were relative with the scales of the social support network.(3)Compared with the other group,the heterogeneities of social support network of the elders in Beijing were relatively lower.On the whole,the emotional support network heterogeneity was bigger than other kinds of social support networks,and practical support network bigger than social-interaction support network.The elders had a far distance with the members of the social network.Personal characteristics were relative with the heterogeneity of the social support network of the elders.(4)the space distribution of the social support network was inclined to geographical distribution,and the distance of the most of members of the social network were near than 1.5 kilometers.The elders had a long cognition time the most of which was longer than 6 years.The social interaction of the elders with social support network was members was frequent at least one time every day or every week.ConclusionsThe government should improve the social support network,and take measures including:(1)enforcing the government interfere toward the construction of the elder social support network;(2)improving the pension policy system;(3)strengthening the support level toward the pension industry;(4)enforcing the construction of the community home-based pension system.Due to the insufficient of the social support,the social support network should be improved according to different personal characteristics of the elders.
