Poor employee performance is one of the major reasons that might cause an organization to go under within a few years of establishing itself.The aim of this study was to determine social economic factors that hinder employee's performance in government organizations in United Republic of Tanzania(URT).The following three research questions guided this study:What are the social factors that hinder employee's performance in government organizations in Tanzania?What are the economic factors that hinder employee's performance in government organizations in Tanzania?And what are the solutions which can be taken to solve the problem of employee's low performance in government organizations in Tanzania?The success of any organization in the world mostly depends on the talent of its management and the performance of all its employees.Poor performance among the employees in government organizations in Tanzania has become a major problem which has led to the poor organization output in terms of delivering effective and efficient public services to the people.The need for this study was crucial since most of the government organizations in Tanzania face the problem of employee's low performance due to various factors especially economic and social factors as established by scholars in public management area.In this study the researcher used both qualitative and quantitative research methods.Online questionnaires,interviews and direct observation were employed to collect data,and the data was later analyzed using IBM SPSS.The respondents were mainly government employees currently serving contractual and permanent roles in National Social Security Fund(NSSF)and Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited(TANESCO)from Tanzania.From the 300 distributed questinnnaires,287 were found to be valid representing 96%response rate.The research findings indicated that there are different social economic factors which hindering employee's performance in government organizations in Tanzania such as low wages,poor working conditions,poor leadership,poor communication,in-adequate resources and lack of competence.Poor employee performance has been the main factor that hinders efficient service delivery in many government organizations in Tanzania.We argue that,the best way to deal with this problem of low performance in any government organization is first to understand the cause,since this will assist in finding a permanent solution.Finally,based on the findings of this research,the following measures have been identified as priority areas and hence we provide recommendations to help in tackling poor employee's performance in government organizations in Tanzania.First,on the side of the government,it should increase wages to its employees and give them other working benefits such as overtime payment,bonus and commission.Furthermore,the government should improve working conditions,provide enough basic resources in the office to simplify and facilitate daily routines in the office for instance computers,printing machines,scanners.Also,the Tanzanian government has to ensure only skilled and experienced workers are employed in government organizations to enhance professionalism and efficient service delivery.Secondly,the management staff in government organizations should create a conducive environment that would allow clear and well structured communication bewteen employees as this will facilitate good working conditions in the office,allow free flow and exchange of relevant information among the government employees thus assisting them to register good performance in their daily duties.
