In recent years,China's express delivery companies have been plagued by a very high rate of courier turnover,and combined with the high stress of Chinese couriers and their actual turnover from career and occupation.This paper selects six types of stressors(workload,work environment,management system,huaman relationship,career development,family factors)of the occupational stress index(OSI)and four types stressors(disproportionate customer expectations,customers' verbal aggressions,ambiguous customer expectations,disliked customers)of customer-related social stressors from the perspective of the courier and the customer as the possible stressors for Chinese couriers;and the courier's turnover intention is divided into intra-occupational turnover intention and intra-occupational intention.On the basis of exploring and determining the work stressors of Chinese couriers,constructing structural equation models of various stressors and two types of turnover intentions,and then analyzing the significance of the path coefficients of these stressors to the intra-inter occupational turnover intentions,and verify whether there are some courier's stressors that affect intra-occupational turnover intention and then affect inter occupational turnover intention,that is,whether the intra-occupational turnover intention plays a(partial/complete)mediating role between some stressors and iner-occupational turnover intention.In addition,the differences in the demographic characteristics of the above study variables were also briefly analyzed.This paper mainly applies six techniques: Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA),Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA),independent sample t-test,one-way ANOVA,path analysis and Bootstrap method.First,implement EFA and CFA to determine the specific factors involved in the stressors of Chinese couriers.Secondly,independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to present the differences of different types of demographic information among the study variables.Again,using path analysis to derive the causal relationship between the variables to be studied.Finally,the Bootstrap method is applied to investigate the mediating role of intra-occupational turnover intention.In order to improve the extensiveness and representativeness of this survey,we selected the seven most influential express delivery companies in China's domestic express delivery industry,namely couriers of ZTO Express,YTO Express,STO Express,BEST Express,YUNDA Express,S.F.Express and JD Logistics as the research object.In order to better analyze the relationship between the stressors of various couriers and the two types of turnover intentions,this study used longitudinal(the lag time of before and after is 3 months)research to obtain the dataneeded for empirical research.The main results of empirical research:(1)The professional stress of couriers as a high-level factor includes six first-order factors: workload,work environment,management system,career development,customers' verbal aggressions and ambiguous customer expectations.(2)Management systems,career development,workload and intra-occupational turnover intention have a significant positive impact.The positive impact of customer speech attacks on inter-occupational turnover intention is the most direct,followed by career development and work environment.Ambiguous customer expectations have no significant impact on the two types of turnover intentions.Career development have direct and significant path to both types of turnover intentions.(3)The courier's intra-occupational turnover intention has a mediating effect on the relationship between management system and inter-occupational turnover intention.(4)the stressors that have a total effect on inter-occupational turnover intention are,in descending order,customers' verbal aggression,career development,work environment and management system.The contribution of this research is to identify the stressors of couriers,especially that the two factors in the CSS are also the stressors,thereby expanding our understanding of the CSS that apply to workers in courier industry.In addition,the courier company can alleviate the stressors that causes the courier's intra-occupational turnover intention,especially the inter-occupational turnover intention,improve the company's employee retention rate and the stability of the entire express delivery industry.Finally,since the vast majority of couriers belong to the “generation Y”,they are in the “professionalizing” process,The results of career development on the two types of turnover intentions indicate that the HR should to pay more attention to couriers career planning.
