Western Europe is the birthplace of the world communist movement,the communist party of Western Europe is an important force in the history and practice of the socialist movement.Since its birth,it has become the most advanced political existence on the European political stage because of its persistent ideal and belief in realizing the liberation of the working class and getting rid of capitalist exploitation and oppression.In Western Europe,the communist party actively participated in parliamentary elections and government formation in the early post-world war ii period,However,with the end of the cold war and dramatic changes in the international environment,the communist party in Western Europe suffered a heavy blow and fell into great difficulties both in theory and practice.This paper selected the most representative communist party of France,the reconstruction of the communist party of Italy,the communist party of Greece,the communist party of Spain and the communist party of Portugal as examples of the communist party of the five countries in the parliamentary elections encountered various difficulties and the root cause will have a systematic analysis.In the first part of the introduction,this paper expounds the reasons for the selection of the communist party of the five western European countries,Then the significance of the research,the research status and the research scheme are summarized.The first part of this paper introduces in detail the performance of the communist party of the five western European countries in the parliamentary elections and the European parliamentary elections after the 1980 s,including the data of the number of votes,the percentage of votes,the number of seats and the proportion of seats.The second part makes a comparative analysis of the election performance of the five communist parties in different countries,and compares the election performance of the socialist party and the alternative left-wing party in the five western European countries with that of the communist party.The third part elaborates the difficulties and challenges experienced by the five western European countries in and outside the parliament after the cold war,and analyzes the plight of the decline of parliamentary election performance based on the exploration of some policies and strategies made by the communist party of the five western European countries after the cold war and the subsequent results.The fourth part mainly elaborates the root causes of the election dilemma faced by the communist party of the five western European countries,and makes a detailed analysis from the international environment,the factors inside and outside the parliament and the impact of other radical left parties in various countries.On the whole,the communist party of the five western European countries has been constantly exploring and fighting in the post-cold war parliamentary elections,By studying the various explorations of the five western European countries in and outside the parliament after the cold war,this paper reveals the difficulties and challenges they are facing,and analyzes the root causes of their difficulties,in the hope that the communist party of the five western European countries can find a path suitable for itself.
