The Relationship Between Time Perspective And Social Adaptation Of Community Correction Offenders:the Mediating Effect Of Social Support

Objective: To investigate the relationship between time perspective and social adaptation of community correction offenders,as well as the mediating role of social support in this relationship.Methods: Using the general information questionnaire of community correction offenders,the "Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory",the "Social Support Scale" and "Reeducation Workers Social Adaptation Scale" on Hunan province and Hebei province.430 questionnaiers were distributed and 342 valid questionnaires were collected,with an effective rate of 79.5%.Results:(1)The community correction offenders’ s social adaptation has significant differences in gender,age,employment and economic income,family relationships,family members and community members’ attitudes toward community correction.(2)There is a significant correlation among the time perspective of community correction offenders,social support and social adaptation.There has been a significant negative correlation among past negative,social adaptation and social support.There is a significant positive correlation among past positive,social adaptation and social support.There is a significant negative correlation among present impulsive,social adaptation and social support.There is a significant negative correlation between present fatalism and social support and the correlation between present fatalism and social adaptation is not significant.There is a significant positive correlation between future and social adaptation and the correlation between future and social support is not significant.Social support and social adaptation are significantly positively correlated with each other.(3)Future and past positive can positively predict social adaptation in a positive way.Present impulsive and past negative can significantly predict social adaptation in a negative way.The use of social support and subjective support in social support can significantly predict social adaptation in a negative way.(4)In the regression analysis of the mediating effect of social support on time perspective and social adaptation,we found that social support plays a mediating role in the past negative,past positive,present impulse and social adaptation.Conclusion:(1)In the psychological preparation of social adaptation to return to society,males are higher than females,younger ones are higher than older ones;interpersonal satisfaction is the opposite,males are lower than females,older are lower than younger;stable economies community correction offenders with income sources have high levels of social adaptation;family relationships are harmonious,mutual care and acceptance,and attitudes toward understanding and support for community corrections,community correction offenders have a higher level of psychological preparation for returning to society.(2)The higher the score of negative time perspective,the worse the community correction offenders’ s social adaptation.The higher the positive time perspective,the better the social adaptation.The better the social support,the higher the social adaptation level.(3)The time perspective of community correction offenders can directly affect social adaptation,and indirectly affect social adaptation by affecting social support.
