Study On Family Care Support And Influential Factors Of Disabled Elderly In China

A large number of the disabled elderly with rapid growth has attracted the attention of the state.The frequency of the introduction of old-age related social policies has also increased correspondingly,which has clearly defined the direction for the planning of the disabled elderly.In the specific planning of disability elderly service facilities,personnel and capital investment and distribution,it is also necessary to combine the current situation of family care and support with the influencing factors of family care support for the disabled elderly to allocate aged service resources more rationally.This will be of great significance to construction and improvement of the “multi-level old-age service system based on home-based,community-based and institutional supplements” in China and other regions in the “13th Five-Year Plan” and beyond.Firstly,the thesis sorted out the theory of family care and the study of disabled elderly at home and abroad,and defined related concepts such as disabled elderly and personal capital.Based on the full use of previous research,the “China Health and Pension Tracking Survey(CHARLS)” was selected as the data base of this study.Thus a total of 973 samples of the disabled elderly aged 65 and over in 2015 were obtained for analyzing via the data cleaning.The study expounded the basic situation of disabled elderly from three aspects: human capital,family capital and community capital.It described the family care support obtained by disabled seniors from three dimensions including the family care,the care time and the economic support,thereby further comparing different characteristics.The study found: about 82% of the 19,043,800 disabled elderly in China were currently cared for,and the caregivers were mainly spouses and children;the average monthly family care time was about 241.519 hours;the annual average level of family economic support was about 2,709.90 yuan.There were significant differences in family care for the disabled elderly with different human capital and community capital.The accompanying spouse or children can improve the quality of home care.The paper further analyze the influencing factors of the disabled elderly family care support according to the characteristics of the research data via selected Softmax regression,nonlinear robust regression and random forest model respectively.As the disabled elderly head towards the elderly or severely disabled state,it was found that the caregivers,the care time,and the economic support are increasing accordingly;the male and illiterate disabled elderly received more comprehensive care support;the accompany of spouse or children and the high income of the children can effectively improved the level of family care support for the disabled elderly;community capital only had a certain impact on the family care time of the disabled elderly.Specifically,the rural insured elderly had less family care time than that of towns;and the disabled elderly in eastern,central and western regions had less family care time than that of northeast.At the end of the thesis,based on the support of the family care policy for the disabled in the UK,Finland and Japan,and combined with the research conclusions of the paper,the paper put forward three suggestions: according to the needs,highlighting the key points and supporting the disabled family;strengthening family care support services for disabled elderly people according to local conditions;establishing a long-term care and protection system,share responsibility,and increasing supply.
