Generation And Evolution Of Internet Public Opinion In Public Crisis Events Under The Big Data Age

With the rapid development of internet and multimedia technologies,internet gradually permeate every aspect of social life,the biological and social environment of the world has changed dramatically.Internet provides social citizens with a public space to debate and discuss freely,which creates a virtual society that enables public citizens involve in public affairs and affects government decision-making in a new way.Internet public opinions response the contradiction of realistic society intuitively in the virtual society,which allow full play to citizens discourse right.The boiling of public opinions impact the traditional social management system greatly,while the government--as the “gatekeeper” of social management,whose discourse right is weakening and the management of public opinion is becoming more difficult.Therefore,enhancing the government's management ability of internet public opinion is crucial to managing virtual society.This study proceeds from the realities of Chinese social environment and internet public opinion,throughout the study with theoretical basis like internet public opinion life cycle evolution theory in Science of Public Management and gatekeeper mechanism theory in Communication.The study analyses “Child Abuse in R.Y.B.Kindergarten” event by means of big data analysis technology like NLP(natural language processing technology),sentiment analysis,propagation path and subject classification etc.from the dimension of time distribution,geographic distribution,propagation path,public opinion direction and emotional tendency etc.,which reveals the rules and features of internet public opinions in public crisis events.The study also explore the phenomenon that the weakening ability of the government,who is the role of gatekeeper in managing the public crisis events.This study is divided into six parts.The Introduction elaborates the background and purpose of the study,raises the research questions based on related internet public opinion literature review.The first chapter displays the fundamental research of the concepts of internet public opinion,public crisis,participating subjects,gatekeeper mechanism etc.The second chapter presents the evolution rule of internet public opinion's life cycle of the sample event.The third chapter demonstrates and analyses the progress of “Child Abuse in R.Y.B.Kindergarten”.The forth chapter analyses the data of comments of mainstream news website and the data of comments from different weibo publisher in different dimensions,which presents the rules and features of internet public opinion,reveals the phenomenon that the government--as the “gatekeeper” of social management,whose discourse right is weakening.The fifth chapter concludes the research findings and proposes solutions based onCommunication and Crisis management theories so as to provide some references and enlightenment to government management.
