David Harvey is a representative of contemporary Western Marxism, and his critique of neoliberalism is unique and profound.Harvey uses Marxist political economics and class analysis as the basis, based on the theory of capital accumulation, and deeply and thoroughly analyzes the nature and disadvantages of neoliberalism from the two aspects of economic roots and political perspectives. The criticism of neoliberalism provides a new perspective. This thesis focuses on a more systematic and comprehensive analysis of Harvey's criticism of neoliberalism. This paper studies Harvey's critique of neoliberalism from the following perspectives:First of all,the thesis analyzes the background of David Harvey's critique of neo-liberalism and explores the source of Harvey's thought. From the perspective of the times, the 1970 s was the era of capitalist production mode transformation and social problems.Harvey directly attacked the root of the problem and tried to explore the turbulence of capitalism from the criticism of neoliberalism.Harvey believes that neoliberalism is the root cause of many problems in the world, and Harvey profoundly reveals the core characteristics of neo-liberal “deprivation accumulation.”Judging from the theoretical basis of Harvey's critique of neoliberalism, mainly Marx,Lefebvre,Arendt and others have had a great influence on Harvey's thoughts, especially Marx's capital critical theory constitutes Harvey. The important theoretical basis of thought,Lefebvre provides a new spatial perspective for Harvey's critical theory, and Arendt's imperialism also has a great inspiration for Harvey's new imperialism.Secondly, the thesis deeply analyzes the main content of Harvey's criticism of neoliberalism. It is concentrated in four aspects: First,Harvey's critique of the neoliberal process.Harvey believes that the core of this process is “deprivation accumulation”and this accumulation is carried out in an uneven manner. The second is Harvey's critique of the nature of neoliberalism.Harvey began to criticize from the perspectives of capital accumulation and reconstruction of class power. He pointed out that neoliberalism stems from the need of capital accumulation and is the policy pursued by the upper class to rebuild class power. The third is Harvey's critique of the consequences of neoliberalism.By comparing the huge differences between the theoretical and practical aspects of neoliberalism,Harvey deeply analyzes the catastrophic consequences of neoliberalism after putting it into practice, and forms an unbalanced geographical development state in the world. The dimension is called “creative destruction.” Fourth,Harvey proposed a plan to transcend neoliberalism. In the vision of an alternative to neoliberalism,Harvey proposes a reform of the top-down capitalist system, that is,the implementation of the “New Deal” imperialism, and more importantly,Harvey focuses on the bottom on the external rebellious movement of the above-mentioned style,it is pointed out that the rebellious movement outside neo-liberalism should be transformed from moral resistance to cultural resistance and political resistance, and the resistance movements around the world will be united to force neo-liberalism to withdraw from the historical arena.Thirdly, the thesis makes a comprehensive and in-depth evaluation of Harvey's critique of neoliberalism. The author believes that on the one hand,Harvey's critique of neoliberalism has certain academic value and theoretical contribution, especially in Harvey's theory, which helps us further deepen our understanding ofneoliberalism. At the same time,Harvey proposes the theory of capital criticism and class struggle, further deepening our understanding of Marxist theory. On the other hand,Harvey's critique of neoliberalism also has serious shortcomings, mainly because Harvey ignores Marx's concern about space issues in capital critical theory. In addition, the feasibility conditions for neoliberal alternatives proposed by Harvey are also inadequate. The final part is also the final foothold of this article, mainly about Harvey's enlightenment to the neoliberal critical theory.First, the enlightenment significance of methodology: on the basis of adhering to the basic principles, viewpoints and methods of Marxism,we can use Harvey's spatial perspective criticism method to criticize neoliberalism. The second is the enlightenment of ideological security: to have a deep insight into the ideological nature of neoliberalism,to be good at grasping the characteristics of monopoly capitalism behind neoliberalism, and to be good at insight into the diverse manifestations and complexities of neoliberalism in contemporary times. On this basis,we must vigorously strengthen China's ideological security construction and improve various risk prevention mechanisms. The third is the enlightenment to China's development: we must strengthen the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and we must strengthen our road self-confidence,theoretical self-confidence,institutional self-confidence and cultural self-confidence.
