A Study On The Role Predicament Of Judicial Social Workers In Community Correction

Community correction,as a kind of non-imprisonment penalty execution system universally implemented internationally,has been developing towards standardization,institutionalization and legalization since its pilot work.As an important social force,social work has been recognized by more and more people in the judicial process.At the same time,the problems in the role playing of community correction have become increasingly prominent,hindering and restricting its long-term development.This article takes examples of the district of Tianjin H center of community correction social workstations according to the practical experience of using qualitative research methods.This study,through participatory observation and interview method,to collect data on community correction by participating daily work process of the community correction in H area in Tianjin,to understand the situation and intervention process,and to understand the roles of justice social worker,such as mentors supporters,administrators and supporters.In fully understand the roles of justice social workers,this study combined with the role theory to explore the present dilemma faced by judicial social workers in the process of participation in community correction involving role strain,role conflict and role of disability,and summarized the reasons of dilemma as fuzzy role paly,low degree of role identity,low role cognition,role conflict and dysfunction,and low role ability.Starting from the ways of creating judicial social work stations,professional interventions of social work and integrating professional resources of social work,this paper attempts to make practical exploration on the solution of the role dilemma of judicial social workers in H district.In this paper,combined with practical experience,based on the three stages in the process of role playing,from understanding the role of judicial social workers,improve the judicial role of social workers identity,and completing justice social worker role in three aspects,this study explored solutions of the justice social worker role predicament,in order to promote the function of judicial social workers in community correction system,to promote the development of social work and community correction,and to achieve the ultimate goal of community inmates return to society smoothly.
