In the context of the continuous relaxation of settlement policies in various places, whether to transfer household registration(hukou)to the inflow city is an important choice for the floating population. The floating population's hukou transfer intentions not only become an important basis for the reform of the household registration system, but also have important reference significance for promoting the new people-oriented urbanization.China is a vast country with significant regional differences. The influence mechanism of the floating population's intention of hukou transfer is different in different geographical units, which results in the spatial heterogeneity of its hukou transfer intentions. However, there is relatively few research on the spatial differences in the hukou transfer intentions of floating population and the spatial variation of influencing factors at present.Based on the data from the China Migrants Dynamic Survey(CMDS)in 2017 and China City Statistial Yearbood, this study first investigated the spatial distribution of the floating population's hukou transfer intentions of 288 cities above the prefecture level in China through spatial analysis methods, and then used the semi-parametric geographically weighted regression(SGWR)model to analyze the influencing factors of hukou transfer intentions, and reveal the spatial differentiation characteristics of influencing factors. The study found that, first, there are significant spatial differences in the floating population's hukou transfer intentions in different cities. The city's location, administrative level, and population size all have an impact on the floating population's hukou transfer intentions.Second,in terms of influencing factors, the individual factors of the floating population(age?inter-provincial mobility?employment in the secondary industry?the average monthly housing expenditure on household income?homestead ownership in their hometown?residence time?articipating in medical insurance in the inflow city)and the urban factors of the inflowing place(tertiary industry's share of GDP in the inflowing city, the average wages of the employees in the inflowing city, and the population size of the inflowing city)both have significant influences on the hukou transfer intentions of the floatingpopulation.Third, the influencing factors of the floating population's hukou transfer intentions show obvious spatial differentiation characteristics. The influence of age,the average monthly housing expenditure on household income, and the size of the population in the inflowing city present east-west differentiation characteristics. The impact of the tertiary industry's share of GDP in the inflow city and the average wage of the employees in the inflow city present a northwest-southeast differentiation pattern. Finally, based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward corresponding policy recommendations for increasing the hukou transfer intentions of the floating population, further advancing the reform of the household registration system, and promoting the development of new urbanization.
