Professionals Nature,Working Time And Public Service Motivation The Analysis Of Chinese General Social Survey

The theory of public service motivation is a unique response to the issue of motivation in the public management discipline,emphasizing the motivation to serve others and benefit others.The relationship between occupational differences and public service motivation is an important topic in studying the public servicemotivation.This paper attempted to analyze the impact of public service posts on public service motivation through the analysis of Chinese General Social Survey(CGSS)2005 and 2015 and analyzed the role of Person-Organization fit in its regulation.The results of the study indicated that there is a stronger public service motivation in the public sector.For public servants,the longer the working time,the stronger public service motivation.This phenomenon was only reflected in the 2015 data,which may be related to the construction of service-oriented government in China.The degree of Person-Organization fit played a part in regulating the influence of occupational differences on public service motivation.The more satisfied the government work,the stronger the positive impact of public service occupation on public service motivation;the degree of ability matching and feeling of happiness had no adjustment effect in this process.This phenomenon was only reflected in the 2015 data.The level of work affects the public servicemotivation,and the higher the level of work,the stronger public service motivation.The data from CGSS2015 showed that family background had an impact on public service motivation.The children whose fathers worked in the public sector have more public service motivation,while the higher the education level of the mother,and the weaker public service motivation.
