As far as moral philosophy is concerned,Marx has not formed a systematic moral theory system. In philosophy, there has always been a debate about Marx's "moral" evaluation and "non-moral" evaluation.Whether Marx is a "moralist" or a "non-moralist",and what Marx's moral thought is,it is of great significance for us to understand the whole ideological system of Marx and the social practice of contemporary China. This paper tries to make an in-depth study of Marx's moral thought and fully explore its contemporary value. This paper firstly makes a summary analysis of Marx's traditional philosophical ethics and Marx's criticism of them. The moral view of traditional philosophy mainly includes utilitarianism, deontology and Hegelian historicism. The moral thought of traditional philosophy revolves around what is the moral good and what is the right moral judgment.Marx criticized the abstract nature of moral thought in the old philosophy.Marx paid attention to the clarification of concrete facts and tried to avoid value judgment, thus forming Marx's unique moral epistemology. This paper discusses the characteristics of Marx's moral epistemology and summarizes them from three aspects: first,Marx condemns and criticizes morality as ideology;Secondly,Marx opposed abstract and empty moral preaching and advocated a concrete study of morality.Thirdly,Marx attached importance to the social function of morality and tried to integrate moral philosophy and political economy. He avoided moral language and made clear his moral position in political economy. On the basis of elucidating the characteristics of Marx's moral epistemology, this paper attempts to explore the specific content of Marx's moral thought. This paper argues that Marx has re-understood the basic issues of morality and understood the concepts of moral good such as "fairness" and "justice" through interests.Marx believed that under the condition of private ownership, the interests between people are mutually exclusive.Only by eliminating private ownership can people freely control their own labor, which is also good.Marx based his moral thought on historical materialism,he regarded the mode of production as the economic basis of morality, and he based his understanding of morality on freedom. In Marx's view, the proletariat promotes the realization of justice, and the free and all-round development of human beings is the fundamental goal of morality.Marx's moral thought still has its practical significance today. The principal contradiction in our society has been transformed into one between the growing demands of people for a better life and unbalanced and inadequate development.Marx's moral concept emphasizes that the economic basis determines the nature and value orientation of morality, and the determination of interest relationship directly determines the basic principle and main norms of morality. It also provides theoretical guidance for us to correctly handle the relationship between economic development and moral construction as well as the relationship between moral awareness and moral practice.
