In the context of globalization,the construction and dissemination of national image is a topic faced by all countries in the world.The success of the construction of the national image directly affects the implementation of the country's foreign policy as well as the gains and losses of the national interests.The news media dominates the international news communication as the main channel for the construction of the national image.However,in the current international public opinion pattern of" Western strong China weak",China has repeatedly fallen into a passive beating situation in international public opinion,facing dilemmas of weak propagation and response.Although the Chinese media actively "go out",they have not really "gone in" to the target countries,and nearly 70%of overseas audiences understand China through the Western media.Thus,how to change this embarrassed status has become an urgent problem to be solved.The China News Award is the highest award for China's comprehensive annual excellent journalism works.The award-winning works are very representative and typical.What kind of national image has the Chinese News Award(International Communication)award-winning works constructed?How does the winning works construct the national image?What are the shortcomings of the award-winning works in the construction of the national image?How to improve?These questions deserve our considerationIn this study,the author synthesizes quantitative and qualitative research methods,based on the national image theory,news framework theory,news narratology theory,making textual research and content analysis of the winning works from China News Award(international communication)in 2010-2018.In terms of text research,firstly,the author uses the national image theory to analyze the national image of the Chinese journalism award(international communication category)winning works from the four dimensions of politics,economy,culture and social life.Secondly,the author uses framework theory and news narratology theory to analyze the strategy of building a national image in the award-winning works.In terms of content analysis,the author analyzes the awards of the China News Awards(international communication),summarizing the shortcomings of the winning works on the basis of the awarding situation,and proposes improvement strategies aiming at the shortcomings of the winning works.General Secretary Xi Jinping said in an important speech at the National Propaganda and Ideological Work Conference on August 21,2018:"To do a good job in propaganda and ideological work under the new situation,we must voluntarily assume the mission of raising the banner,gathering people's hearts,educating newcomers,promoting culture,and exhibiting the images"." The exhibition of the image" is one of the five missions of the news media.It is closely related to the promotion of building international communication capacity,telling good stories about China as well as spreading Chinese voices well.Also it is inseparable to the improvement of the cultural soft power of the country and the influence of Chinese culture.The author hopes that the research in this paper will play a role in the research of this field.It can provide ideas for the future Chinese media to construct a national image in international news dissemination and optimize the strategic layout of international communication.
