At present,European integration is in a downward phase.Brexit is a major setback in the process of European integration.Western theoretical schools have proposed an interpretation framework for the process of European integration from different perspectives, but with the development of European integration, the EU is facing various tests such as "crisis of legitimacy" and refugee crisis. As a sudden event in the history of European integration, brexit has had a tremendous impact on European integration and the development of Britain. This effect has led to two opposing arguments, each with its own justification.Due to the suddenness of the "brexit" incident, there are few theoretical explanations in the academic circles. There are many theories related to European integration, but in recent years there are four main active analysis schools: Liberal Intergovernmentalism,Neo-functionalism,Historical Institutionalism and Post-functionalism.These four mainstream schools have mainly explained the European debt crisis and the refugee crisis.By comparing these four theories, the author analyzes their latest achievements and defects. On this basis, the possible explanations for the "brexit" event are deduced. Why did the UK become the first unique entity to leave the eu? This is a question that has always existed in the academic and political circles.Throughout the historical evolution of British-European relations,we can find that the British tradition of "Glorious Isolation" and the culture of "Euroscepticism" are manifested in various periods of UK-EU relations, and the British leaders often make "Euroscepticism" remarks. The half-hearted behavior of the United Kingdom from resisting European integration to taking the initiative to join, has laid a certain foreshadowing for the late "Brexit" incident. The change of the international environment and the British people's pragmatic thinking led them to actively enter the European Union despite the absence of the glory of "sunset empire",and a series of efforts after entering the European Union made them constantly resist the process of European integration. The author believes that the occurrence of "Brexit" is an accidental event caused by multiple factors. And the whole process that this happens to have again with the happening process of social movement extremely high likeness. Therefore, this paper attempts to analyze the causes of Brexit from the perspective of social movement theory. The change of external environment, the influence of organizational structure, cultural factors and the intensification of conflicts caused by emergencies all contribute to the occurrence of the "brexit" event.First, the brexit story is set against a historical backdrop of downward globalisation and upward regionalisation.During this historical period, the United States, once the leader of globalization, gradually withdrew from various globalization organizations, while other important nationstates also began to resist the development of globalization and seek regional unity in small groups. The European debt crisis caused by the economic crisis also led to the drag and gratuitously given by the low-rich countries to the countries with better economic development in the eu.This change of external environment provides structural inducement for the occurrence of "Brexit" event.Secondly, the refugee wave in 2015 led to the "post-immigrant era" in Europe, which also led to the most serious refugee crisis in Europe since the second world war.The migrant crisis is a critical event that has created structural resentment in Britain and among the British people.Thirdly, the identity problems caused by cultural factors such as religion and custom. The profound eurosceptic culture in British history, religious conflicts among immigrants, different religious factions' choices of supranationalism and nation-states have led to some symbolic behaviors of actors. Finally,as the eu's "legitimacy" crisis looms, its ability to control it declines. The interaction between British political parties and the public, and the social mobilization for votes, eventually led to the "Brexit" event.Since the brexit referendum, the political and economic life of the UK and the British people have been closely around the issue of brexit. The complexity and uncertainty caused by the result of brexit have a profound impact on the development of the political, economic and social situation of the UK.First, the divergence of the event of brexit has weakened the original political and economic consensus of the UK society.Especially in party politics, national unity, parliamentary sovereignty and other aspects. The realignment of party seats as a result of brexit has injected new populism into British politics and further destabilised the eu.Second, divisions over Britain's departure from the European Union have further fuelled separatism in places such as Scotland. The debate over parliamentary sovereignty or popular sovereignty is also ongoing.Third,as of April 2019,although the UK has not formally left the eu,the long-term uncertainty about the path of brexit and the decision to leave the eu,an important economic and trading partner, have also led to the decline in the economic growth of the UK,and the obvious impact on investment and employment.Fourth, the brexit issue has further triggered the discussion on the international status of the UK,whether the "global Britain" can be achieved, and whether the relationship between the UK,the us and the eu is facing new changes.Even if the UK is certain to leave the eu,these pressures and challenges will accompany the UK for a long time to come and will be difficult to change in the short term.
