Group Work Involved In The Study Of Social Role Adaptation Of Retired Military Cadres

Military officials have made great contributions to assure national security and social stability.Retired military cadres are special existence among the elderly,their political treatment and living treatment are better than the general retired elderly.However,after they retiring,they returned to society from the army.The problems and difficulties caused by changes in the environment,changes in interpersonal relationships and psychological gaps are also more complicated than the problems encountered by other retired elderly people,they need the help of professional social workers.This paper mainly focuses on the study of the social role adaptation of retired military cadres in the L military rest camp.During the practice of the L military rest camp in Chongqing,through unstructured interviews and participatory observation,the author understands current problems and demand of retired military cadres.According to the problems and needs of military rest cadres,based on the role theory and the empowerment theory,designed a group activity plan and used the method of group work to help the retired military cadres who have role adaptation problems torecognize their new roles and make role transformation,finally formed the correct role expectation.During the group process,social workers encouraged and guided the retired military cadres,so that the retired military cadres could explore their own abilities,gain confidence and gradually become familiar with the new role and adapt to the new role.After the end of the group activity,the author evaluated the effectiveness of the group intervention,and found that the retired military cadres effectively improved the existing role adaptation problem and established new interpersonal relationships by participating in the group activity.At last,the author summarizes the dilemma of social work intervening in the service of retired military cadres and how to relieve the problem of social role adaptation of retired military cadres.In the meantime this study provides some relevant suggestions for social work intervening in the service of retired military cadres.The study combines group work with role theory to provide new ideas and method,for the social role adaptation of retired military cadres,hoping to help more retired military cadres out of the dilemma of social role adaptation.
