Challenges Facing The Implementation Of County Integrated Development Plans,A Case Of Machakos County Government Kenya

Strategy implementation plays an important role in the development and success of an organization making it achieve competitive advantage.The County Governments are assigned the duty of providing effective and proficient service to the people of Kenya.Recently,various county governments have been engaging in activities that will increase their provision to the people.Some of the activities are the establishment of strategic plans.Kenya's recent development plan is steered by Vision 2030,which is the approved government long-term development plan.The idea is established on these main pillars that are Economic,Social and Political development.It is aimed at transforming Kenya into first world country by providing high class of life to all people in a hygienic and conducive atmosphere.Also,despite County Governments having more established and planned strategic policies,the performance of the public organizations have not been as expected.The context of this research was to examine the challenges faced by the County Government of Machakos from implementing the CIDP's taking into consideration the variables of management commitment,organizational policies,availability of resources and leadership.The research sought to determine to what extent these variables influence the implementation of the County Integrated Development Plans and recommend ways on how to overcome the challenges in the County which will enhance the organization to accomplish the set objectives and goals.The research was done at Machakos County Government,Kenya,whose strategy implementation is not the only key to the county itself but also to the entire country.The study utilized quantitative research method.The data was collected based on the questionnaire of 50 employees from Machakos County Government headquarters.32 questionnaires were successfully filled,returned,taken as a sample and used for the data analysis.The maj or results of the research was that the organization have been executing the strategic plan at a percentage of 59%.The descriptive method involved generation of frequencies and percentages while Pearson's correlation technique involved establishing significant linear relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variables.The data was presented inform of tables,pie charts and bar graphs.The independent variables were found to have a significance influence on CIDP's which is the dependent variable.
