A Study On The Media Presentation Of Foreign Ethnic Groups In China From The Perspective Of Transitivity

With the development of multi-polarization and economic globalization in the world,China,which has experienced more than 40 years of reform and opening-up,is more and more integrated into the wave of globalization.The number,frequency and structure of cross-border flows of people(inflow and outflow)have become important indicators to measure the level of globalization.With the increasing number of foreign ethnic groups working and living in China,new requirements are put forward for foreign management services in China.The media presentation of foreign ethnic groups of China affects people's judgment and cognition of the group.Guangdong Province,as the forefront of China's reform and opening up,is also one of the preferred destinations for foreign ethnic groups to come to China.It is of great significance to explore the media coverage of foreign ethnic groups of China.Halliday's transitivity process of systemic functional linguistics is a representation tool of the development process,participants and relevant environmental characteristics of things.It contains specific attitudes to language.In this study,2009 1059 news reports on Nanfang Daily,Nanfang Metropolis Daily and Yangcheng Evening News from three media in Guangdong Province from to 2018 were studied through python The program builds Chinese corpus by itself,uses transitivity process theory framework of systemic functional linguistics,text analysis method,and corpus linguistics research method as assistance,carries out quantitative analysis of high-frequency words and collocations at lexical level,and transitivity process analysis of news headlines and clauses.This study finds that in the reality constructed by the media reports,the subjects of the reports have gradually diversified from the rule of law news to the present,reflecting in a timely manner China's international talent innovation and development strategy and the process of improving the social governance system and ability of China,especially Guangdong,but also exposing excessive attention to the illegal issues of foreign ethnic groups in China,the social integration of foreign ethnic groups in China and the deficiencies in communication and dialogue.In order to build a social governance pattern of CO governance and sharing,the media and society need to abandon the stereotype of foreign ethnic groups of China and promote the social integration of the target international immigrants.At the same time,we should strengthen smart and flexible management,precision and refinement of social services,encourage broader social subjects to participate in governance,and provide China's good governance programs for the world.
