A Study On China's Image In The Chronicles Of Myanmar

There are many descriptions of China in the chronicles of Myanmar,through which the ancient Myanmar people's cognition of China's image can be seen.However,as most of these descriptions have no corresponding records in Chinese historical materials,and some of them have a strong legendary and romantic atmosphere,they are generally regarded as unreliable.But there must be some historical truth behind these descriptions.This paper takes time as the warp and important historical events as the weft.The descriptions of China in the chronicles are divided into four periods.Based on other historical materials such as Myanmar inscriptions,the royal orders of Myanmar,cultural relics and other historical materials,as well as information about Myanmar in Chinese ancient books,researches and demonstrates the descriptions of China in the chronicles of each period,especially the descriptions that has not been seen in the historical records of China and found: Before the Yuan and Myanmar war,although the descriptions of China in the chronicles have a legendary atmosphere,these descriptions are generated on the basis of certain historical truth.From the Yuan and Myanmar war to the Split times of Myanmar,the descriptions of China in the chronicles is produced in the real historical background,but some stories in favor of Myanmar are also added in the chronicles.During Taungoo Dynasty,all the historical records are true,but the history of Myanmar's defeat in Ming-Myanmar war is omitted.In the period of Konbaung Dynasty,the descriptions in the chronicles were close to the reality of history to the greatest extent.The images of China in the chronicles in different periods are different,and the images of China in different periods are independent from each other.On the one hand,the emergence of Chinese images in different periods is based on different degree of historical realities,on the other hand,it is based on the need of the history writing of Myanmar.Overall,in the chronicles,China is a country that is at times friendly and at times hostile to Myanmar,China is not powerful than Myanmar.There are two reasons why China is not more powerful than Myanmar in the chronicles.On the one hand,this is due to some of the history that is bad for Myanmar is omitted,and some of the romance that is good for Myanmar is added.On the other hand,it was based on the fact that at the beginning of Taungoo Dynasty,China was losing in the southwest and it lost more than it won in the war with Myanmar.As a result,Myanmar people's confidence based on history when they face China today is not entirely blind.An objective view of history can also make us less blind when we look at ancient China-Myanmar relations.
