Research On Individual Participation In Cyberterrorism From The Perspective Of Rule-oriented Constructivism

With the development of Internet technology,the role of social media in daily life is increasingly momentous.Terrorist organizations have long used the Internet for propaganda,recruitment and threat activities,and they may attack network systems and other facilities.Along with the rapid development of social network,the terrorist organizations in social media have caused attention,due to the opening of social media,individuals have more and more opportunities to access to relevant information on social media,the possibility of individuals to be involved in terrorist activities is increasing.Although the recruitment and propaganda of terrorist organizations mainly target potential supporters,in fact,also because of social network is open and decentralized,individuals would not definitely accept the rules or narrative system which is constructed by terrorist organizations.In the participation of Internet terrorism,individuals are not only the object of media,but also the disseminator of information.They could re-read the original text of terrorism,construct their own rules system,and even affect terrorist organizations and related media who were the initial subjects of communication or information,and this process relied heavily on the open virtual space which provided by social media before it happens in the real physical world.During this process of construction,the potential individuals have participation ability and the will to participate,the terrorist organizations and medias provide the original text,social medias provide the space for actors to interact between each other,and the individual actors could act as positive and rational participants,rather than just opinion feedback or passive recipients of information.In a way,the participation ways are something like the "fans" who actively participate in the popular cultures,this kind of positive,strong participation and mutual structure possibility shows individuals may complete self-radicalized after taking the information which be provided by the terrorist organizations,and they also may have more subjectivity: on the one hand,they may voluntarily terminate participation behavior,on the other hand,they may make the terrorism information in their own places,and to construct the participation of more complex forms and types.All in all,individuals can also be powerful participants in the governance of cyber terrorism.
