As a special underage group,the large-scale left-behind children have gradually attracted wide attention from all walks of life in recent years,and have become important reporting targets in the mass media.Mass media,as an important channel for people to know and understand left-behind children,its media image of left-behind children also affects people's perceptions and views on left-behind children.This paper takes China News Network as the main research object.Through qualitative research,it analyzes the construction of media image of left-behind children,which helps to understand the mainstream values' perception of left-behind children.The research starts from the following aspects: In the context of China,what kind of media image of left-behind children will China News Network choose to construct? What are the paths to build the media image of left-behind children in China News Network? What are the shortcomings of China News Network in the construction of left-behind children's media image? What specific strategies are used to help scientifically build the media image of left-behind children?The dissertation draws on theory of news discourse and uses discourse analysis research methods to select 265 left-behind children's reports in the ten years from 2009 to 2018 as a research sample,and analyzes the left-behind from two levels: the macro topic structure and the micro semantic structure Reporting characteristics of children's news and media discourse of left-behind children.The thesis analyzes the reporting theme,reporting time,reporting genre,reporting object,news schema and other dimensions from the macro level;analyzes the vocabulary,wording style,and news quotes from the micro level to analyze the left-behind construction of China News Network Children vector image.It is found that the media images of left-behind children constructed by China News Network can be divided into three categories.First,the image of children who are mature,independent,happy and motivated;Second,the family hunger,poverty,helpless,vulnerable group image;Thirdly,the negative image of children is solitary,sensitive,rebellious and violent.This shows that the image of left-behind children constructed by China News Network is three-dimensional and diverse.The thesis analyzes the three major paths of constructing left-behind children's media image in China News Network: one is to achieve a diversified set of issues for left-behind children through the comprehensiveness of reporting topics,the diversity of reporting objects,and the widening of reporting areas;Event-oriented and responsibility-oriented,while paying attention to media responsibility while following the rules of the journalism profession;the third is the use of dual narrative,through the dual opposition of "other" and "self" and the contrast between the past and the present of the past Ways to build the media image of left-behind children.Finally,this study reflects on the media image construction of left-behind children in China News Network,and proposes two shortcomings of left-behind children's "aphasia" in their communication and the left-behind children's reporting presentation mode are insufficient.When reporting on left-behind children,the media must first focus on social responsibility and objectively set the media agenda for left-behind children.Second,they should pay attention to the issue of left-behind children's right to speak and let left-behind children become the "protagonists" of reporting.Finally,actively plan related reports for left-behind children,enrich the reporting format,and stay away from the modeled reports,better present the true face of left-behind children,and promote the resolution of related problems.
