With the intensification of the urbanization process, amount of rural farmersswarm into cities, becoming migrant workers and making a living in the city. Due tothe limit of the household registration system, their children can’t go with them intothe city, whereas leave behind in the remote rural areas and become rural left-behindchildren. This widespread phenomenon arouses the great attention of media. Thisthesis selects two influential print media Dahe Daily and West China Daily as analysissamples, studying on their whole-year reports (from November2012to November2013) about left-behind children in order to explore the media presentation of"left-behind children" image.The introduction part summarizes the research situation of the previous reportsabout "left-behind children" and puts forward the research meaning and innovationpoints of this paper..The first chapter analyzes the present situation of the reports about “left-behindchildren” from the West China City Daily and Dahe Daily. These two papers arequantitative sorted out and analyzed from report quantity distribution, report theme,report nature, report genre, report layout, report subjects and report forms these sevenaspectsThe second chapter summarizes the general image of left-behind children: short,thin, dusty skin and clothes, dirty, out-of-touch, shy, introverted, quiet, inferior, etc.Some children also showed antipathy to media interviews.The last part summarizes the shortage of the reports about left-behind children,which leads to the deviation of left-behind children image among readers and theirstory image. This brings negative impact on the disadvantaged groups, such as the left-behind children...
