The objectives of this study are to analyze the factors that lead Indonesians to work as migrant laborers in Hong Kong and to identify the issues that Indonesian female laborers working as domestic helpers encounter during their working time in Hong Kong as well to distinguish the cultural traits,lifestyle and religious beliefs of Indonesian migrant laborers from those of Hong Kong citizens,and to pinpoint the changes in various aspects of life of these migrant laborers from before to after working in Hong Kong.The type of research that author use is descriptive method.The secondary data collection was namely by collecting data and information from literatures,books,journals,printed media,newspapers and online media(websites)that are related to the topic,while the primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with relevant people.The qualitative analysis method is also used,which is to analyze and describe issues based on factual findings,not by using statistical or mathematical formulas.Most of Indonesian domestic helpers in Hong Kong are relatively inadequately educated,with a minimum or insufficient set of skills and knowledge.Due to this condition,many of them are facing various problems in their destination country.The social freedom and the free lifestyle in Hong Kong can cause drastic changes in the cultural traits of these female migrant laborers,bringing about positive and negative consequences in their future life.
