Geography is a comprehensive and extensive subject,which involves studies on the surface of the earth,the relationship between man and land,and the areal system.The content of the geography department are extensive and complex,but the content of teaching materials is limited and there is a certain gap between the textbook and the real life,so that simple classroom teaching relying on the information contained in textbooks can no longer meet the needs of students.In the process of class teaching,teachers should fully excavate the information related to geography teaching.It is a good way to solve the problem by applying the current materials into the geography teaching class in senior high school,which will supply the content of textbooks,narrow the distance between the textbook and the real life,let students learn to apply what they have learned into the life,improve students' learning interest and enhance their practical ability in geography.Therefore,this study,based on the characteristics of geography,carries out the research on the application of current materials in geography teaching in senior high school through taking the literature research method and case study research method.This study mainly involves the following parts.First,this study states the importance of applying current materials in high school geography teaching class from the aspects of stimulating students' learning interest,relation between theoretical knowledge and real life and the development of students' correct geographical concepts.And then,this study briefly introduces principles and methods of choosing current materials to be followed and classifing the current materials according to different standards,and expounds the applicational tenets and ways of current materials in high school geography teaching class.Next,through taking the specific case,from the lead in,content explaining,class practice and extra activities four stages to illustrate the application of current materials in geography teaching class.Finally,through the analysis of applicational process of current materials,the study analyzes the effects of this kind of application and summarizes the matters needing to note.Through three years' personal teaching practice,the author has accumulated many classic teaching cases and drawn the following conclusion: by applying the currentmaterials in geography class in senior high school,it is helpful to stimulate students' learning interest,to improve the effectiveness of classroom teaching to a certain extent,and to cultivate students' ability of autonomous learning.In the process of teaching practice,through the accumulation of individual experience and consultion with peers,the author puts forward some suggestions on how to introduce the current materials into the teaching better in senior high school,such as teachers should gradually improve the traditional teaching mode,teaching methods should be diversified and teachers should guide students to cultivate correct values of emotional attitude.In the three years' teaching practice,both the teacher and students have a great harvest.Although both students and the teacher have made progress in the process of taking the study,this study can not be perfect and also has many disadvantages because of the author's limited level of theory and writing ability.It's hopeful to be improved slowly in the later work and study process.
