This paper takes the Chinese teaching situation of Rotorua boys' high school Confucius classroom as the object.The main means of investigation are survey research,classroom observation,on-the-spot investigation,interviews and other research methods.The article has six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.The second chapter introduced the general situation of Rotorua boys' high school,and on the basis of New Zealand middle school Chinese teaching history,summed up the three stages of Rotorua boys' high school Chinese teaching history:the start-up period,development period and stable period.The third chapter focused on the four elements of teaching:the teaching content(curriculum and textbooks),teachers,students and teaching methods,to clarify and analyze the current situation of Chinese teaching in the Rotorua boys' high school.The fourth chapter investigated and analyzed the learning behaviors of students.These two chapters are the main part of the paper.The conclusions in this chapter are as follows:1 Chinese is more popular among the lower grades of the school,especially among the students of grade ten.2 The actual number of words in school textbooks is much larger than the number of words in vocabulary lists.But The actual number of words in school textbooks is almost equal to the number of all words in NCEA vocabulary list,and the repetition of new words is much higher than the NCEA vocabulary list.3 There is no significant difference between Maori students and non-Maori students in Chinese language learning achievement.4 The Chinese learning motivation of the students in this school mainly comes from the learning situation level.5 Among the electronic apps which this school is currently using,the most popular with students is kahoot,followed by quizlet.The fifth chapter gave some practical significance of this study,and summarized the characteristics of the four aspects of Rotorua boys' high School Chinese teaching,then gave some inspiration to other middle schools or Confucius classrooms in New Zealand.Then according to the school's Chinese teaching,put forward specific proposals.The suggestions can be summarized as follows:1 shorten every class time;open new culture classes or increase culture teaching proportion in current classes.2 increase time in Pinyin and cultural content in school book;pay attention to the allocation of new words in each lesson;do more work in Textbook layout design;increase the interesting part of Textbook.3 increase the amount of Chinese teachers;encourge the MLAs to work for more years.4 improve the students'awareness of autonomous learning in Chinese.5 in the process of teaching;use more Chinese;add more class games;don't put too much reliance on electronic apps;improve students the writing ability of Chinese characters.The sixth chapter is the conclusion.
