Dyslexia is a special type of learning disability that people have difficulty to recognize word and spelling,decoding disorder.The situation of dyslexia can last a lifetime,which has strong negative effect on children's learning ability,learning interest,mental health.Children who suffer dyslexia are likely to have poor social ability.This study intends to explore the situation of children's self-esteem and bad social emotions and identify the relationship between children's self-esteem and bad social emotions.Taking the primary school students from grade 5 and 6 in Anning district of Lanzhou city as the research object.Dyslexia Checklist for Chinese Children were used to screening the dyslexic children.Children's Self-esteem Scale,Children's Loneliness Scale,CLS,and Social Anxiety Scale for Children were used to evaluate the level of children's self-esteem,loneliness and social anxiety.The results of the study are as follows:(1)The ratio of children who have Chinese dyslexia is 11.7% and the gender ratio is 3:1.(2)Self-esteem level and social anxiety of girls is higher than boys;the loneliness level of Boys is higher than girls.The difference has statistical significance(P<0.05).The difference among grades in terms of self-esteem,social anxiety and loneliness has no statistical significance(P>0.05).(3)Children who have dyslexia have lower self-esteem and higher loneliness than non-dyslexics(P<0.05);as to social anxiety,the difference between dyslexics and non-dyslexics has no statistical significance(P>0.05).(4)The dyslexic children have lower scores in term of appearance,accomplishment and social morality of self-esteem than those who has no difficulty in reading.(5)Dyslexic girls got lower score on the appearance and social morality aspects of self-esteem than non-dyslexic girls.Dyslexic boys got lower scores on the discipline aspect of self-esteem than non-dyslexic boys.The difference between dyslexic boys/girls and non-dyslexic boys/girls on the term of loneliness and social anxiety had no significance.(6)The results of correlation analysis showed that the social morality aspect of self-esteem negatively correlated with loneliness and social anxiety.The results of our study suggested that boys have higher ratio of dyslexia than girls.Dyslexic students have lower self-esteem and higher loneliness.The self-esteem of dyslexic children negatively correlated with loneliness and social anxiety.
