The students from many countries and regions studying in China generally and Shandong University(SDU)particularly take advantage from the peaceful and quality-oriented education in this country. The increasing number of international students in China results in a lot of experiences in the different subjects and fields, the facilitated environment and the availability of research sources.Simultaneously, the international students studying in SDU remain under pressure due to cultural shock which includes unavailability of homemade food, communication gap, passive learning, homesickness, and segregation from host culture which result in many mental problems, depression, and irritation. The present research reveals the negative influence of Chinese culture and its impacts on international students studying in SDU.The Chinese culture shock among international students in SDU is revealed by conducting demographic research survey and qualitative interviews.Questions in the interviews have been asked to acquire adequate qualitative data from the participants. The findings of the present research suggest that different academic problems such as the assessment and evaluation method,teacher-centred classrooms,Chinese-style teaching and learning, lack of homemade food, language barrier, and isolation from the host culture are the main problems which result in cultural shocks. The findings of the present research can be useful in terms of comprehending and understanding the problems and needs of international students who come from different countries for pursuing higher education in China generally and SDU particularly.By investigating these problems, the Chinese universities including SDU will be capable of understanding the problems of international students and accommodating the multicultural international students which may result in a better learning environment.
