With the development of mass media,music media has become an important part in daily life of middle school students.Facing the heavy task of study and the psychological pressure of exam-oriented education,middle school students easily experience mood swings so that they need to find a way to relieve psychological pressure.Songs just meet this psychological need to some extent.A series of Studies shows that the impact of exposure to the media depends very much on the content of the media.For the medium of music,prior studies have shown that secondary school students listening songs with anti-social content that would lead to an increase in their antisocial behavior.However,it is relatively lacking of the research on the influence of pro-social songs on pro-social behaviors of middle school students.Therefore,from the perspective of pro-social,the present research examined the influence of pro-social lyrics and songs on junior high school students' cognition,emotion and behavior by means of questionnaires and behavioral experiments.The study is divided into a pre-experiment and two formal experiments.The pilot study through the investigation of 136 subjects is mainly for the screening of appropriate pro-social and neutral songs for the formal experiment.Using the songs selected in pilot study,Study two analyzed the differences of the pro-social cognition,pro-social emotions and pro-social behavior tendencies among junior high school students with different trait level of agreeableness qualities through the pro-social thought questionnaire,empathy questionnaire and pro-social behavioral tendencies questionnaire.On the basis of the study one,study two using the method of regression analysis,examined intermediary role of pro-social cognition and pro-social emotion between pro-social songs and pro-social behavior tendency.Through the research,the paper presents the following conclusions:Firstly,junior high school students who listened to pro-social lyric songs show higher pro-social cognition,pro-social emotion and pro-social behavior tendency;Secondly,the pro-social cognition,pro-social emotion and pro-social behavior tendency of junior high school students with high agreeableness tend to be higher than that of students with low agreeableness;Thirdly,on the level 'of low agreeableness,the middle school students who listened to the pro-social songs show higher pro-social emotions than the middle school students who listened to the neutral songs.However,there was no difference in the high agreeableness level.Fourth,the effect of song types on pro-social behavior was partially mediated by pro-social cognition and pro-social emotion.
