Research On The Intervention Of Social Work With Supportive Employment Of Mentally Handicapped

Employment is the foundation of people’s livelihood and is the key way for each adult to participate in society and realize the value of life.In our country,all citizens enjoy equal rights and qualifications for employment.However,persons with mental disabilities are particularly vulnerable in their severe employment situation because of their own obstacles,and the right to employment is difficult to guarantee.For this reason,many institutions that provide employment services for persons with mental disabilities have gradually been established.One of them is the B Family Support Center for Mentally-impaired People.Unlike traditional sheltered employment services,the City B mentally handicapped family support center provides employment services for mentally challenged people.This service model has been introduced from abroad in recent years.There are relatively few examples and related research applications in China.In order to meet the needs of localization,the B City mentally handicapped family support center uses professional methods of social work.The service was properly intervened and achieved considerable results,but there are also some problems in the process of exploration.How social work can be better involved in supportive employment services for persons with mental disabilities,and helping more people with intellectual disabilities achieve stable employment and social integration is a question worthy of our consideration.Based on the internship experience of the author in the family support center of mentally handicapped persons in city B,this article takes the supportive employment service of the center as the research object,and uses the theory of social support,energy augmentation theory and social construction theory as the theoretical basis,and applies the participatory observation method.Semi-structured interviews and other research conducted on supportive employment services for family support centers for people with mental disabilities.Introduced and analyzed the basic situation of the R center,the basic situation of the service target and the status of the supportive employment service,and the practice and effectiveness of the social work professional approach to the service,and analyzed the existing supportive employment services of the center through cases.Problems that may exist in China suggest suggestions for further involvement of social work in supporting employment services.
