Research On The Effect Of Human Capital On Industrial Structure In China

Nowadays,our economy has stepped in "new normal" period,a series of changes have taken place in the economic situation,among which,industry structural transformation has become the critical proposition to economic development,whose emphasis is focusing on coordinating the development of service sector,improving industry core competitiveness,thereby,achieving the strategic adjustment of economic structure.Human capital,as an important factor affecting industrial structure adjustment,deserves our in-depth discussion on the effect of human capital on industrial structure,which has important theoretical and practical significance for promoting the transformation and upgradation of industrial structure in China.This paper discussed the effect of human capital on industrial structure from the combination of theory research and empirical research.First of all,the present situation of human capital and industrial structure in China was summarized,and the comparative analysis with the related countries was made.Secondly,on the basis of combing the theories of human capital and industrial structure,this paper systematically expounded the mechanism of the impact of human capital on industrial structure.Human capital promotes the adjustment of industrial structure through technological progress,consumption demand and labor flow.As transmission paths,the the technological progress and consumption demand are indirect,and the labor flow is direct.Then,the panel data of from 2001 to 2015 were adopted in the empirical part.Based on the perspective of stock of human capital and human capital structure,the panel regression analysis and spatial econometric analysis were taken to explore the influence of human capital on the industrial structure and to discuss the spatial spillover effect among the variables.The results of the regression showed that human capital can significantly promote the optimization of industrial structure.In the human capital structure,the primary human capital had not passed the significance test.The correlation of middle human capital and the industrial structure was negative.The higher human capital and the industrial structure had a significant positive relationship,and the impact is relatively large.Among the control variables,technological progress had the greatest influence in transforming industrial structure.The results of spatial econometric analysis showed that the fitting degree of the spatial econometric model was better than the common panel regression,and the spatial correlation coefficient has been verified,which means that the setting of the spatial model is closer to the reality.The industrial structure has obvious spatial spillovers.While human capital promotes the adjustment of local industrial structure,it has a negative impact on the industrial structure of the surrounding areas,which may be the neighboring provinces have strong competitive effects on the competition of all kinds of economic resources.In terms of control variables,except for technological progress,the other control variables have passed test,which means that these variables have a significant impact on the industrial structure in the surrounding area.Finally,according to the research findings,suggestions were proposed such as increasing investment in human capital,speeding up the education reform,improving the mechanism of talent flow,in the meanwhile,attaching importance to special factors of human capital and industrial structure.
