In 2012,the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China issued a revised edition of "Guiding Outline for Mental Health Education in Primary and Secondary Schools(Revised in 2012)",which provides a basis for the mental health development of primary and secondary school students throughout the country. In 2017,the Ministry of Education issued the "Guidebook for Moral Education in Primary and Secondary Schools." It was pointed out in the document that the moral education of primary and secondary school students included mental health education. The basic goal of primary school is to make students develop habits of civilized and healthy behavior. There are ups and downs in the process of development, although the psychological quality of children develop rapidly after they enter into primary school. On the one hand, they have to face the pressure from their parents' expectations. On the other hand, they need to face all kinds of bad temptations around them.It requires primary school students to conduct appropriate behavioral and cognitive choices. To develop good behavior habits among primary school students, developing good self-control ability is crucial. The psychological characteristics of pupils have the following common features: poor mental abilities, overreaction to emotions, impulsivity,no consideration of consequences,no planning, poor consciousness, unreasonable time control, difficulty in concentrating on one task, easy distraction, sensitive, susceptible to temptation to produce bad behavior. Therefore,it is important for cultivating children's self-control ability during this stage.Grasping the key period of self-control training has an important influence on children's future development. This study aims to improve self-control abilities of primary students through exercise intervention experiments.Firstly, using the " Children's self-reporting table of Self-controlling" to screen out the intervention training objects that meet the requirements of this study. And divided them into two groups. The experimental group participants were subjected to table tennis exercise intervention: the intervention training was performed for 12 weeks, twice a week, and cognitive and behavioral test was performed during the 13 th.week;the control group took the text without training for sports intervention.Laboratory test method Go/Nogo task paradigm and Stroop task paradigm were adopted in this study. When the text was over, analyzing the impact of table tennis training on self-control ability by monitoring the self-control ability of the subjects through comparative analysis of data.Through this study we have reached the following conclusions:(1)The correct rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group when finishing the Go/Nogo,but there was no significant difference. And the experimental group had better reaction ability than the control group when completing the Go task, and there was a very significant difference.(2)There was no difference between the two groups in the accuracy of the response on finishing the Stroop task. The experimental group completed the color word inconsistency task better than the control group, and had a better ability to suppress the dominant response.(3)There was no significant difference between genders.Boys responded faster than girls and the correct rate of girls was higher than that of boys. There was no significant difference in the self-control ability of these students in different grades, while the fourth grade students had better self-control ability.(4)The exercise intervention experiment in this study had a positive impact on the pupils' self-control ability. The behavioral control ability and cognitive inhibition ability of the pupils in the experimental group were greatly improved. In summary, table tennis exercises have a positive effect on the improvement of pupils' self-control ability. This paper gives the following suggestions:(1)To strengthen mental health education, the school functional departments should implement the country's policy guidelines and pay attention to the development of mental health of primary school students.(2)To strengthen the education of physical exercise for the physical and mental health of pupils, relevant department should popularize the development of table tennis in primary school.(3)To grasp the critical period of self-control ability formation,we should encourage primary school students to participate in physical exercise actively and develop good behavior habits.(4)Table tennis is one kind of skill-based net countermeasures program.Perhaps it will have the same positive influence on the self-control ability of pupils by focusing on the training of the same type of sports such as tennis, volleyball and so on.
