The new Chinese course standard puts forwards "to skim and browse skillfully,to expand the scope of reading and broaden our horizons".Therefore,each version of the teaching material arrangements changes accordingly.The higher grade,the more skimming reading texts are.Among all the front-line teachers,most of them have questions about teaching the skimming reading text,such as "analyzing too simple" or"with no difference with intensive reading texts".These factors impede the reading ability of students to meet the requirement of new curriculum criterion.In view of the above phenomenon and problems,this thesis tries to find a new way of teaching skimming reading text----the attempt teaching method,trying to guide and encourage students to use their knowledge and life experience to learn to skim the text,making it clear what they already understand,which is not clear to them,and thus to read selectively and study in depth,so as to let the students study actively,form the reading methods,improve the skimming reading skills and the efficiency of skimming teaching.This thesis mainly consists of four chapters.Chapter One is the introduction,according to the requirement of the new Chinese course standard and the present teaching situation of the skimming reading text,this thesis puts forward the research value of improving the teaching efficiency of skimming teaching,brings forward the basic idea and mode of the attempt teaching method,and summarizes the domestic and foreign research status of the attempt teaching method in skimming teaching.The second part discusses the general application model of the attempt teaching method in skimming text teaching in primary school.In general,to apply the method,there are two premises:one is the teaching content which should be in line with the new Chinese course standard and unit goals,making sure that students can effectively apply the learning methods learned in unit intensive readings to skimming texts;the other premise is to construct equal,harmonious and rich incentive teaching atmosphere,letting the students have the courage to try and the willing to try.On this basis,we construct the educational model of "attempt before guidance,practice before explanation",letting students learn actively in the ego grope,complement each other,get enlightenment under the guidance of the teacher.The thesis takes the text Learn to See a Doctor in the fifth grade of the PEP as an example,to elaborate how to apply the attempt teaching method to skimming text specifically.The third part is teaching experiment.Experimental classes are the first three classes in Grade Five in Xiamen Wuyuan Experimental School,the other three classes in this grade are the comparative classes.The experiment lasts for one semester,A reading ability test is conducted for every two units.Through specific data analysis,it can be seen that the experimental class has obvious advantages in reading narratives,the overall reading level is slightly higher than that of the comparative class,and the secondary and upper secondary students benefit greatly.Chapter Four comes to the conclusion:applying attempt teaching method to skimming text helps to improve students' learning interest and the efficiency of class,also plays an important role in improving students' reading ability,especially in reading narrative.The promotion effect of upper secondary students is more significant.At last,the thesis also points out the shortcomings of the teaching experiment such as short time,too few data,single evaluation,too many interference factors and poor persuasion.
