According to the second semester objectives of the “Chinese Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 Edition)”,we need to learn how to skim texts in order to know the general meaning.Its purpose is to let students master the skimming ability and develop their reading skills.The feature of skimming texts is that teachers encourage students consciously applying the intensive reading methods in the skimming reading,in order to improve their reading speed.Nowadays,the teachers do not pay more attention on the extensive reading,because this kind of ability is not the focus of various examinations.Therefore,there are many problems of skimming texts.This paper takes the three primary schools in Jinzhou as an example to analyzes the existing problems in the Chinese skimming teaching in primary schools through several methods,named literature review,interview and investigation.Generally,this article can be divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction,which describe the importance of this paper based on previous studies.The second part is the concepts,including the definition of the skimming and relevant theories,which lays a solid foundation for this paper.The third part is the analysis of the survey results.The analysis of the current skimming teaching situation is mainly from two aspects,involving teachers themselves and their teaching process and the students' understanding of the skimming.The fourth part analyzes the problems existing in the Chinese skimming teaching in primary schools,including positioning deviation,teaching formalization,grasping dislocation and evaluating omission.The reasons are the fifth part,including the teaching concept deviation,the lack of understanding of the texts' characteristics,the inadequate grasping of various text types and the lack ofscientific evaluation.The sixth part plays an important role in this article,which proposes the strategies of the Chinese skimming teaching,involving four aspects:improving the level of teachers' skimming,grasping the teaching characteristics of the text,changing teaching methods and adopting the people-oriented evaluation system.In general,this paper whose materials mainly are from front-line teachers,combines the theories and practice through questionnaires and lecture in order to provide some references for the following research on the skimming teaching in primary schools.In addition,it puts forward some concrete implementation teaching suggestions for the first-line teachers.
