Study On Marriage Payment

The course of marriage payment is an important part of marriage relationship.We can see the trajectory of marriage and family change in rural society by studying marriage payment.Tujia nationality has rich marriage culture.This paper which bases on the theory of field domain and takes the theory of cultural change as the research perspective studies the changes of marriage payment practice in D village of Tujia.The main research methods are case interview,literature review,participatory observation,historical comparison and so on.The aim of study is to explain the nationality and regionality of marriage payment in d village.According to the economic and social development of D village,the interviewees were divided into three groups which base on the age of marriage:before the Reform and Opening--up,between the Reform and Opening--up and twenty-first Century,from twenty-first Century to nowadays.Firstly,the paper introduces the regional geography,human status and change of marriage customs in D village.Secondly,the writer expounds three different periods' marriage culture,dowry content,betrothal gifts and the ownership of wealth,aimed at summarizing the characteristics of different periods.Finally,analysing and comparing inheritance and evolution of the three periods,and trying to find the reasons behind them.The marriage payment practice of D village is explained under the framework of field theory.In the field of d village,the stability of marriage values makes the premise of bride and groom be possible during the marriage association.What makes the dowry stable and the content of marriage payment flow to the newly married small family are the invisible payment rules in the village field and the mutual construction of marriage relationship and dowry.the family's collectivism makes the father's goal is to enable family triangulation structure is stable,as a result,the family childbearing culture and marriage funding are retained.However,With the development of economy and culture,the marriage payment habits in the rural field will be influenced by the habitus of the city field.The content of the payment has changed.The value of payment has been rising and the content is from the object to the currency.In a word,marriage payment habitus is the root of the stability of marriage payment,but social change is the push of marriage payment's change.because the interpersonal network and marriage ceremony are still in the village field,there is no doubt that d village still practice the unique marriage payment logic to hand on Tujia peopl's unique imprint and culture.
