Research On The Coordinated Development Of Population Mobility And Regional Economy

Since the reformation and opening up,China's regional economic development has made tremendous progress,and economic growth in different regions has achieved unprecedented results.However,due to the unbalanced development strategy adopted at the national level that give priority to the development of local regions,the gap in economic development among regions in China has been widened.In order to solve the problem of excessive development gaps among regions and gain new impetus for regional economic development,the nation has proposed a new strategy for regional coordinated development.The orderly and reasonable flow of economic factors in the coordinated development of the region is very important.Population is one of the most active and fluid factor in all economic factors.The flow of population has a close relationship with the coordinated development of regional economy.Based on the analysis of the connotation,impetus,and factors of regional coordinated development,this paper theoretically discusses the ways and results of population flows that affect regional economic development,the population conditions in the process of regional coordinated development,and the general rules and characteristics of regional population flow patterns in the process of regional coordinated development.Take the Yangtze River Economic Belt as an example,an empirical study is conducted on the relationship between population fiow and regional coordinated development by constructing a synergy model of the complex economic system on 11 regions of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the concentration index of population flow.The study finds that: the population flow has a close relationship with regional coordinated development.On the one hand,the size,direction,and pattern of population flow are determined by the differences in regional economic development.According to the economic growth pole theory,economic development is not carried out simultaneously for all industries in all regions,but certain industries in certain regionsare given priority to be developed due to external factors such as resource advantages or policy support,thus it forms a pole of economic growth.Since the existence of economic growth poles,production factors such as population from the surrounding areas are attracted to the center of the economic growth pole,and the concentration of population in the central area will speed up the economic development of the central region,as well as widen the gap of economic development among the surrounding areas.On the other hand,the flow of the population will turn to drive the transfer of capital,markets,technology and other factors among the regions,which affect the coordinated development of the regions.In the latter period of the extremely rapid growth of the economy,the influx of a large number of people will cause public resources in the central area to become tense.At this monent,under the influence of the diffusion effect,the population will begin to spread to the surrounding areas,and the accumulation of population and other factors of production in the surrounding areas will promote the economy of the surrounding areas.The development will further narrow the economic gap between itself and the central region,and ultimately promote the coordinated development of the regions.Through empirical research,we find that the regional economic synergy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt presents a slowly spiraling upward trend,reaching a maximum of 0.113 in 2011.This shows that the overall economic level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is low.The average concentration of the total inflow population in the Yangtze River Economic Zone is 0.358,the average concentration of inter-provincial inflows is 0.658,and the average concentration of in-stream population is 0.679.It shows that the total inflow of people in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is in a relatively balanced state.But inflows and in-stream inflows are less balanced.The Yangtze River Economic Belt's total inflow,inter-provincial influx,inward-influenced population concentration and regional economic synergy are showed as an inverted“U” trend.The regional economic synergy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt rises from 2000 to 2010.From 2010 to 2015,the trend declines.The total influx populationconcentration,inter-provincial influx population,and in-stream inflow population concentration are in an upward trend from 2000 to 2005,and are in a downward trend from 2005 to 2010,i.e.the change in the concentration of inflows,inter-provincial inflows,and in-stream inflows is earlier than that of the regional economy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
