With continuous development of higher education and expanding educational scale,more and more minority students leave their hometown to study in universities in inland cities and coastal developed areas.They live together with Han students and are confronted with cultural shock arising from differences in regional culture.They have to adapt to the culture of the school area.In previous literature,there are plenty of studies towards minority students in border western areas,yet studies towards minority students in inland and midland are far from enough.This thesis conducts an overall theoretical analysis of cultural adaptation and builds a theoretical framework of cultural adaptation for minority students in Universities of Changsha Area.It also designs a questionnaire of cultural adaptation towards inland minority students and inquires into the current adaptation situation in Changsha.By analyzing 683 valid questionnaires,this thesis draws conclusions as follows:First,the overall adaptation situation for minority students in Universities of Changsha Area are relatively good and the attitude tends to integration;Second,factors like gender,nationality,family,grade,major and one-child or not,exert obvious influence into cultural adaptation of minority students in Universities of Changsha Area.Data reveal that in cultural adaptation,girls perform better than boys and non-only children perform better than only-children.Tibetan students perform relatively worse in cultural adaptation.Students from metropolis and families with yearly income between 70,000 and 100,000 perform obviously better in cultural adaptation.Senior students and students from interdisciplinary subjects between liberal arts and sciences perform best.Third,in cultural adaptation,students with integrative attitude perform better than those with discrete attitude.Based on statistics analysis,this thesis puts forward some suggestions towards promoting cultural adaptation for minority students in inland universities as follows:"Social support to construct good background environment for cultural adaptation of minority students","family participation to provide a strong backing for cultural adaptation of minority students,"school guidance to deliver important push for cultural adaptation of minority students","individual dominance to focus ultimate power for cultural adaptation of minority students".There are three innovations.First,pay attention to the cultural adaptation of minority college students in inland universities,and expand the research object of cultural adaptation of ethnic minority college students;Second,a questionnaire for cultural adaptation of minority students in Colleges and universities in Changsha has been compiled,which provides a reference tool for similar studies;Third,some problems were found Changsha area of minority students in cultural adaptation,such as "Tibet Tibetan students' cultural adaptation is relatively difficult","The influence of parents on acculturation is not enough".
