With the development of economy and the progress of society,females play an increasingly important role in social life.However,they face a variety of unfair treatment,direct and indirect discrimination.In the fight for females' rights and interests,the international community has making continuous efforts to publish a series of important policy texts,which has symbolic significance in promoting gender equality.As a major town of social sciences in the United Kingdom,University of Oxford has a prominent role in the protection of females' rights and interests.And it has a long history in defending females' rights.In September 2014,the United Nations Women launched the Global Solidarity Campaign for Gender Equality--HeforShe,they chose 10 universities worldwide committed to equality between men and women.University of Oxford is among them.In the HeforShe campaign,University of Oxford performed well and ranked the top 1 in the first year.Therefore,the study on the protection policy of the rights and interests of female faculty and staff in the University of Oxford can be carried out in time and efficiently.The dissertation takes the protection policy of the rights and interests of female faculty and staff in the University of Oxford as the research object,and it addresses the following research questions:1)what policies are adopted by University of Oxford to protect the rights and interests of female faculty and staff?2)What is the effect of protection policy of the rights and interests of female faculty and staff in the University of Oxford?And 3)What are the characteristics of protection policy of the rights and interests of female faculty and staff in the University of Oxford?Based on the international background,domestic background and the university internal background of the protection policy of the rights and interests of femalefaculty and staff in the University of Oxford,the dissertation discusses the objectives and implementation of the protection policy of the rights and interests of female faculty and staff in the University of Oxford.Through the study on the protection policy of the rights and interests of female faculty and staff in the University of Oxford,to some extent,has been effective in the following aspects:the proportion of female staff members in senior management positions has been raised;the academic ecology of female academic staff has been significantly improved and the wages of female staff have also been raised.However,there are also some challenges:the percentage of female faculty members in senior management positions in individual academic departments is relatively low;the proportion of female staff in senior professional titles is still low;gender differences in salary still exist.Through the study on the protection policy of the rights and interests of female faculty and staff in the University of Oxford,we summarize five characteristics of the policy:1)British equality and diversity thinking organically integrated within the rights and interests protection policy of female faculty and staff in the university of oxford;2)Rooted in the strategic plan of Oxford;3)the policy making and policy evaluation are combined organically;4)the protection policy of females' rights and interests echoes with other equal policies;5)the role of data is fully played.This has some enlightenment significance for our country where there is gender inequality among female faculty and staff in higher education.
