As one of the core competences,scientific reasoning is a kind of important ability that senior high school students must have.To reinforce the cultivation of the ability of scientific reasoning is not only a key subject as part of the New Curriculum Reform but also becomes the essential condition for the middle school students to obtain the subject core competence.Therefore,under the background of the quality-oriented education,it's of great significance to discuss the high school students' scientific reasoning ability,and to research on how to develop their relevant abilities.This thesis is organized as follows.Chapter one is the introduction,which includes the background of the study,the statement of the study both in China and abroad,as well as the purpose and value of the study.The purpose of education reform worldwide is to cultivate the students' scientific core competence.Moreover,as the core of students' scientific research ability,the scientific reasoning ability is in favor of the development of the students' scientific core competences.Obviously,on the one hand,no enough attention has been paid to the importance of scientific reasoning during the education process.On the other hand,the New Curriculum Reform requires practical and effective research on the students' scientific reasoning abilities.In the second Chapter,the author defines the relevant terms after referring to a large number of documents on scientific reasoning,and finally confirm the theory basis of the study.This part introduces scientific reasoning from its definition,basic forms and measuring dimensions etc,which is meant to make people have a profound knowledge of scientific reasoning itself.In the third Chapter,the author talks about the factors of the development of scientific reasoning ability and the relationships among the factors.During this study,students from six classes in grade one of senior high school stage are assessed through the available instrument-the Lawson's Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoninginstrument(LCTSR),and the author finds that senior high school students tested are in a low level of scientific reasoning ability.So aimed at testing the strategies to promote individual's scientific reasoning ability,two classes in Senior one are chosen as the subject,and the author teaches them for a period of ten months,then a comparative analysis is made between measurement results obtained before and after the practice.In the fourth chapter,based on the contrast between the results taken before and after the practice,the author further tests the validity of the process of the teaching cases,discusses and tries to point out some teaching strategies to develop the students' scientific reasoning abilities so as to promote the students' scientific reasoning abilities in the subject of physics.In the fifth chapter,conclusion is made based on the whole thesis.Moreover,suggestions for further research are proposed and disadvantages are pointed out in the thesis in the end.
