The physical concept is an important part of physics.The understanding of physical concepts directly affect the establishment of the system of physical knowledge.Concept teaching has always been a difficult problem in the process of physics teaching.How to make better understanding of the physical concepts for students has grown to be a very pressing problem in physics teaching.It is generally believed that there are many differences between male and female students in the physical learning.When it comes to the study of mechanics concepts,what are the sexual differences between these mechanical concepts,why there are such differences,and how do these differences affect students' learning?Based on the full understanding of students on the learning situations,combined with theoretical knowledge and teaching practice,according to the characteristics of male and female students in concept learning,we can make teaching plan reasonably.So that we can help students establish the physical concepts better,and improve their logical thinking ability and abstract thinking ability.There are many studies on gender differences between men and women in physics learning,and there are many researches on mechanics concept learning.However,there are few studies on the differences between boys and girls in the study of mechanics concepts.There is little research on the impact of both learning and recommendations for specific teaching.However,these aspects are the emphasis of this study.This study has conducted as follows:Firstly,through the analysis of examinations and communications,we compared their subjective difficulties in concept learning.Secondly,according to the internationally accepted and highly reliable mechanical concept test(FCI),we conducted pretest and post-test on students.Through data analysis,we can find out students' objective difficulties in learning the concept of mechanics,gender differences in learning difficulties and advantages;Thirdly,we set up experimental class and control one,using different methods in teaching,trying to find out the effective ways to improve the concept teaching,and then applied them to practical teaching.We can get the conclusions as follows:there are indeed gender differences in concept learning.Boys are more excellent in abstract thinking and logical analysis while girls are more likely to rely on experiences and feelings to make subjective judgments.Girls are more careful about life and have better memory;boys are more interested in physics and like to read books related to physics,so they have corresponding physical concepts in the mind.It is nepcessary for teachers to pay attention to gender differences so as to get better results for carrying out the concept teaching.
