Curriculum reform has been spread and conducted for a long time in China.As an integral part of school curriculum,school sports is of vital importance to the physical and mental development of elementary and middle school students.In 2015,Shanghai Municipal Education Committee officially launched a program focusing on the interests of primary schools as well as the sports diversification of middle schools in order to promote school physical education curriculum reform and improve its quality.During physical education reform,it is crucial to consider students' motivation and motor skill.This dissertation was aimed to addressing the following three research questions:(1)Was there any significant difference between/among different gender and grade middle schoolers' expectancy-value motivational?(2)Wasthere any significant between middle schoolers' expectancy-value motivations and motorskill.(3)To what extent did expectancy-value motivations affect learning level of motor skill?Based on the theory of expectation value,this paper draws the following conclusions by taking fancy rope jumping,one of the diversified courses,as an example and with the aid of literature,questionnaires,on-the-spot investigation,and mathematical statistics:In terms of the expectation value motivation,the middle school students,due to different sexes,have significant discrepancies as to expectation belief index,interest value index,and utilization value index.However,there is no obvious difference in regard to important value index.Through the correlation analysis,four indexes of expectation value motivation are positively related to the grades of the juniors.The significant positive correlation between male students' jumping rope learning performance on the three indexes of expectancy belief,interest value and utilization value was higher than that of female students,while the male students were lower than female students in the important value indicators.The jump rope grades of every grade were positively correlated with expectation beliefs,important value,and the interest value.What's more,the correlation degree between the four indicators has something in common,that is,the grade six is higher than grade seven,and grade seven is higher than grade eight.According to the regression analysis,four indicators of expectation value motivation,expected belief X1,important value X2,interest value X3 and utilization value X4 build up a regression equation with the jump rope learning performance,that is Y=4.751*X1+1.754*X2+4.848*X3+0.493*X4+36.116.The results indicated that PE teachers should emphasize middle schoolers' motivation adoption.This dissertation put forward the following proposals during nurturing and keeping students motivation.Teachers should cultivate students confidence for ability of jumping rope motion,guide students to know the attainment value of jump rope and design jumping rope class carefully to stimuli students interest to jumping rope.Create a variety of practical experience in sports classroom to make students realize the use value of jumping rope for their present and future life.During teaching,teachers should pay extra attention to girls and senior class students topromotetheir engagement and positive emotional experience in jumping rope class.
