The Study On The Science Research Capacity Building In The University Of Cape Town Of South Africa

The overall ability of a country depends to a large extent on its research capabilities.As the center of knowledge production and dissemination,universities play a crucial role in the national innovation systems,but African universities 'scientific research is struggling in various obstacles.For African universities,it is particularly important to implement correct and efficient initiatives to upgrade their research capabilities.At present,the academic circles also have some thinking on this issue.Based on the existing research,this study chooses the University of Cape Town,South Africa,which has a relatively high level of performance in scientific research as the research object,follows the principle of-"putting forward the question-analyzing the problem-solving the problem "-train of thought to carry out research to explore its capacity for scientific research initiatives,and provides the appropriate reference to developing countries,especially African countries.This research first defines the core concepts such as "research ability","research capability building" and "research university".On the basis of this,with the beginning with the background of development in the new era,the research has been discussing the basic environment and conditions for its research capacity building by the methods of literature research,comparative research and case study,The study found that the development of University of Cape Town's scientific research experienced the germination of scientific research,the emergence of scientific research system ' the period of the scientific research development and the period of having a stable basis for the development.Currently,Cape Town University has actively promoted scientific research capacity and achieved remarkable results in terms of scientific development strategic planning and management,research team construction,scientific research funding and platform support,and international scientific research cooperation.Experiences worth learning include phased training programs for scientific researchers,high proportion of investment in graduate education,cross-disciplinary group research initiatives,demonstration leading regional scientific research development,and multi-angle international scientific research cooperation.Of course,University of Cape Town scientific research capacity-building also faces many challenges,such as scientific research funding instability,brain drain and so on.It should be noted that the experience of scientific capacity building at Cape Town University in South Africa cannot and must not be fully replicated.Therefore,other universities can not ignore their own background and conditions in the reference process,we must find a suitable path for the development of their own research on the basis of reference.
