The purpose of this study was to explore the internal relationship between parenthood variable,self-efficacy variable,and self-esteem variable of middle school students.This paper uses the “Relationship Scale,” “Parent Support Scale” and “Family Authority Model Scale” as parenthood measurement scale.And “Self-efficacy Scale” and “Self-esteem Scale” are used as measures of self-efficacy and self-esteem.Some middle school students in Beijing and Shanxi were surveyed by questionnaire.A total of 1050 questionnaires were distributed,including 969 valid questionnaires and the effective rate was 92.3%,and SPSS 17.0 was used for data processing and analysis.The results were showed:(1)The overall self-esteem of middle school students was higher,and there was significant difference between different cities and gender.(2)The overall self-efficacy of middle school students was generally higher than the middle level.There were significant differences among different cities,genders,and only children.(3)The three types of parenthood measurement scales had preferable predictive effects on self-esteem,and the correlation coefficients with self-esteem are:0.519,0.375,0.393.(4)There was a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and self-esteem of middle school students.The correlation coefficient between self-efficacy and self-esteem was 0.466.(5)Multiple regression analysis showed that the three types of parenthood measures and self-efficacy can explain 41.7% on self-esteem.(6)The three types of parenthood measures in middle school students played a part of the intermediary role in the prediction of self-esteem.Self-efficacy played an intermediary role between parental attachment-self-esteem,parents' support-self-esteem,parental rearing pattern-self-esteem,with mediation effect of 18.4%,33.7%,16.5%.(7)Based on the factor analysis,the structural equation model of parenthood-self-efficacy-self-esteem was constructed and the goodness of fit index is fairly good.Self-efficacy played an intermediary role between parenthood-self-esteem,with mediation effect of 27.4%.It is suggested that we should build a new parenthood measurement scale based on parents' support factor after considering parental attachment factor and parental rearing pattern factor.It is suggested that we should improve parenthood and self-efficacy to enhance self-esteem of middle school students.
