The triathlon was officially included in the Olympic game by the International Olympic Committee in 1994.Triathlon was officially listed as a formal game of Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 and the first gold medal in the Olympic Games came from women’s triathlon.Although the triathlon was born late,it has developed rapidly and a large number of people around the world has participated in the game.Triathlon has become one of the most popular sports in the 21 st century.Triathlon has extremely high requirements for athletes’ speed, endurance and inter-project conversion skills. The unique charm of triathlon has attracted more and more enthusiasts and has become one of the fastest growing trends in China in recent years. The mid-long distance swimming is China’s key project. The emergence of outstanding players of the middle and long distances, such as Zhang Lin and Sun Yang, has driven China’s leading position in freestyle swimming of the mid-long distance in the world. The swimming of triathlon is 1.5 kilometers for the specific route of the open waters. The less total time for swimming, cycling, and running time is the winner. The achievements of China’s triathlon of 1500 meters are far from the world level.Due to special competition environment and physical contact, there are great differences in freestyle swimming between the swimming pool and open water and different tactical arrangements are derived.Compared with the open waters, technique & tactics are more challenging and adaptable, and the requirements for athletes are higher. The paper, taking technique & tactics of freestyle swimming in the still water as the research object, compares the technique & tactics of the 1.5-kilometer freestyle swimming in the triathlon and the still water pool.Through comparison and analysis of related technical indicators, the differences technique & tactics in two differentenvironments are analyzed and compared. The paper uses the literature data method, video observation method, inductive summarization method, comparative analysis method and mathematical statistics method. The technique & tactics of 1500 m freestyle swimming in the swimming pool and open waters are observed and recorded in the field, and the data are summarized and compared. The following conclusions are drawn:1.From the features of projects and competition environment, there are great essential differences in the swimming technic & tactic between open water and still water.2.In the 1,500-meter freestyle swimming course, the freestyle swimming in open water needs more time than the still water because of the restriction of competition environment.3.The three stages of the open water swimming: departure, middle and sprint. The features of performance distribution are different from the still water. From the comparison of results,it is found that the speed of open waters changes greatly, which is related to the competition environment and the characteristics of projects.4.The triathlon athletes are relatively stable in frequency and stroke, and they do not fluctuate up or down. They are better than swimming athletes in maintaining the frequency and strokes as he distances increasing.5.In 1,500-meter freestyle swimming, most of the open-water freestyle swimmers and still-water swimmers use the way of uniform swimming;most of the still-water swimmers use the way of “acceleration-equilibrium-acceleration” approach, and the freestyle swimming in open water is use the way of “Accelerated-uniform”.
