The Influence Of Public Service Motivation On Students' Participation In Social Service In Colleges And Universities

Public service motivation(PSM),which was proposed abroad in 1983,has developed into one of the core philosophy in the study of public administration and public management,covering the origins,concepts,structures,measurements,and related variables.This study is not only an attempt to localize the theory of public service motivation,but also a practical application of the theory of public service motivation.The author hopes to use the theory of public service motivation to solve some problems existing in the college students 'willingness to participate in social service.The author selected the students of a subordinate University in Hubei province as the research object,and obtained the sample data through a simple random sample questionnaire,and then conducted an empirical study.By means of exploratory factor analysis and related literature,a model of public service motivation of college students is constructed to influence the willingness to participate in social service.Through descriptive statistical analysis,the motivation of public service and willingness to participate in social service are studied.Through correlation analysis and stratified regression analysis,the influence of public service motivation on the willingness to participate in social service of college students is discussed.The results show that in the sample of college students in China,the motivation of public service only includes the three dimensions of public value commitment,compassion and self-sacrifice,all of which have a significant positive impact on the willingness to participate in public welfare social service,public value commitment and self-sacrifice have a significant positive impact on the willingness to participate in semi-public welfare social service,compassion and self-sacrifice have a significant positive impact on the willingness to participate in non-public welfare social service.The author reviews the whole study and puts forward the shortcomings of this study.It is proposed to use public service motivation as a reference for college students 'willingness to participate in social services and a reference standard for selecting members of public welfare social services,and to construct a measurement index for selecting social service participants.At the same time,it is very important to propose the training of the Communist Party members(including preparations).
