| With the promote of the new basic education reform,many disciplines have revised the curriculum standards and put forward the core concepts and key competencies that students should master.Geography concept is the basic element of the geographical knowledge system,an important tool in the geography teaching process,and an effective carrier to cultivate students’ key competencies of geography.Meanwhile,the geographical key competency and the geographical core concept have a strong consistency on the grasp of connotation and the requirements of geographical ability.Therefore,the study of the geographical core concept has certain directive meaning towards geography teaching.Firstly,this thesis defines geographical core concept by consulting a large number of literature on core concepts.On the basis of that,through the comparative study of multi-country Geography curriculum documents and Geography curriculum standards of compulsory education,the author preliminarily screens the core concepts of “world geography” in junior middle school,after which the screened core concepts are examined by geography books.At last,geographical core concepts of “world geography” including position,geographical environment,regional linkage and manland relationship are determined.Secondly,it is found that the common problems in the current geographical core concept teaching are limited understanding of core concepts,traditional teaching method and single teaching evaluation,through the investigation and analysis of the current teaching situation of the geographical core concept in junior middle school.And teachers’ teaching behavior has a great influence on students’ learning interest,learning method and understanding of concepts.Accordingly,this study puts forward the corresponding improvement strategies.First of all,setting up the awareness of core concept teaching.Furthermore,building the core concept system of geography to make clear teaching goals and organize teaching content.Last but not least,using concept map instead of traditional teaching evaluation method to acquire core knowledge.Finally,it is proved that the core concept teaching method is feasible and effective through empirical research.Teaching method which centered on core concepts can not only help teachers to use teaching materials scientifically and to make clear teaching goals and difficulties,but also can help students to reduce the memory burden effectively and to deepen the understanding of geographical knowledge. |
