Primary school students are the hope of the motherland and the future of society.Their physical fitness level is also highly concerned by government and society.To improve the physical quality of primary school students and promote their mental health requires the close cooperation of sports work,and physical education activities must play a role.Since the implementation of the "Sports and Health Curriculum Standards",schools at all levels in the country have implemented the physical education curriculum reform in conjunction with the relevant provisions of the "Sports and Health Curriculum Standards" and have achieved certain results.However,it needs a long process for the physical education teaching reform to be developed in depth.The physical education teaching will inevitably face great challenges and many problems will arise.Yan’an city is located in the north of Shaanxi province and is an important economic and cultural center in northern Shaanxi.In recent years,with the strong support of the municipal party committee and municipal government,the quality of physical education has been continuously improved.Using literature,questionnaires,mathematical statistics and other research methods,This study analyzed in depth the existing problems of faculty level,venues quality,students’ learning status,and teaching management of the physical education in township primary schools in Baota District of Yan’an City since the implementation of the “Sports and Health Curriculum Standards.And effective measures and optimization measures to improve the physical education teaching in primary and secondary schools in the region were proposed,which have certain value and practical significance for deepening the reform of physical education and promoting quality education.Through the study,the following conclusions are drawn:1.The teachers in the elementary schools of Baota District in Yan’an City are in good condition and can basically meet the actual needs of school sports teaching in the region.The age structure is young in average and the gender structure is basically reasonable.Academic qualifications are mainly B.A degree or below.There is no senior professional title,and the number of primary and secondary students is the largest.There is a lack of opportunities to receive on-service professional training,and knowledge is updated slowly.The teachers’ professional value is low and satisfaction level is not high.2.The requirements of the "Sports and Health Curriculum Standards" can be basically implemented,but more teachers do not have enough knowledge of the "Standards" and there will be large deviations in implementation.Teaching design considers the resources conditions of the school and the characteristics of students’ physical and mental development.It has certain scientific basis,but it is not comprehensive enough.Most schools have syllabuses,and the mastery of sports skills and physical health improvement are the main goals of physical education activities.Some schools will neglect the mental and health sports participation goals,and especially not attach importance to the improvement of students’ social adaptability.3.The setting of teaching content is mainly based on basic sports skills such as walking,running,jumping and throwing,basic gymnastics,and queue formation,supplemented by the basic movements of ball game.And sports games also occupy a relatively large proportion in the classroom content.Some schools also introduced waist drums and other special items in their teaching.The selection of teaching materials is based on the compilation of textbooks or self-selected materials,and the teaching materials of local sports programs are compiled.The teaching methods are more traditional,and there is lack of the application of modern educational techniques.The assessment methods are scientific,and the evaluation content is comprehensive.4.Most students like physical education.The motivation of learning has a variety of characteristics,and the motivation derives mainly from past interest and exercise experience.The enthusiasm and initiative of class are higher.Due to the limitation of natural terrain,the number of venues is insufficient and the quality is not high.The satisfaction of sports teachers with venue facilities is not high.5.The ways to improve teaching quality and promote the effect of physical education in township primary schools in Baota District,Yanan City are as follows: promoting physical education teachers’ awareness of teaching work,enhancinging the construction of stadiums and management systems,upgrading teachers’ professional qualities,standardizing teaching materials,optimizing curriculum systems,improving teaching methods and methods,setting up sports regional groups,and carrying out school sports competitions activities.
