Recently years,the Ministry of Education issued notices such as the National Vocational College Skills Competition Three-year Plan(2013-2015)and the National Vocational College Skills Competition Implementation Plan(2017-2020),which proposes to test the quality of vocational education teaching through professional skills competition,and as one of the important means to improve the quality of education and teaching.In recent years,the students participating in the skills competition will enhance their comprehensive professional abilities in the competition.They not only become the target candidates for the various enterprise units,but also be the main force in the ranks of universities and colleges in various provinces.Therefore,many vocational colleges have begun to grasp the opportunity of the skills competition to promote teaching and studying,and to accelerate the reform and development of vocational education courses through the ways of combination of games and classes,integration of games and study.This article will start from the phenomenon that students participating in skills competition are very popular with enterprises and colleges,and their comprehensive professional competence is recognized.Using literature analysis,investigation methods,and observation methods to analyze the underlying causes of the phenomenon and summarize the main features of the education function of the hotel vocational skills competition,which to optimize the current problems of course and teaching in secondary vocational schools in Guangxi province.First of all,it was found that the competition comprehensively examines the players' comprehensive professional competence from four aspects: professional quality,general professional ability,professional skills,and professional knowledge based on the analysis of competition criteria and other contents of the National Vocational College Skill Competition(hotel service direction)in the past five years.Therefore,the survey questionnaire was designed by those four dimensions to learn about the comprehensive professional abilities of participating competition students in competitions training.Secondly,summed up the main features from educational functions of skills competitions : comprehensive training objectives,entirely training content and structure,a variety of training methods,diversified training evaluation system basedon understanding of the competition training situation in deeply through further interviews and observations.At the same time,the author investigates and analyzes the current situation of hotel service and management majors curriculum teaching about 5 Secondary Vocational School in Guangxi province,which finds that there are still some shortcomings,such as learned-based teaching content objective is not comprehensive,the teaching content structure is not linked to each other,the ways of speaking,practicing,and examination teaching method ignore the breakthrough of quality,and a single course-based teaching evaluation is lack of comprehensiveness.Therefore,the author uses the main features of the education function of the skills competition analyzed to optimize the course teaching in secondary vocational schools.The secondary vocational course teaching achieves optimization objectives that the majority students improving their integrated career ability,course teaching content and structure becomes entirety,competitions essentially promote teaching and learning in routine courses,and teacher team teaching and evaluation,which based on setting integrated curriculum teaching goal,setting up integrated curriculum content and structure,adopting diversified curriculum teaching methods,and implementing multi-course teaching assessment.Finally,analysis a optimization case by taking the catering service course of hotel management and service specialty as an example,which provides suggestions and references for the promotion of competitions improve teaching and learning and the development of secondary vocational school curriculum reform.
