With the development of China’s economy,Chinese language set off a boom in learning with a strong momentum in the world,followed by a lot of thinking about Chinese teaching.In this paper,the study on game teaching method at four primary and intermediate schools in New Zealand attempts to prove its effectiveness and necessity through teaching practice,and supplement the analysis results of classroom observation and questionnaire,hoping to provide useful reference for teachhing Chinese as a foreign language.The first chapter introduces the research background,the research purpose,the research method and the current research situation of game teaching method at home and abroad,which is the starting point and the theoretical foundation of this research.The second chapter gives a brief introduction to the characteristics of the New Zealand foreign language teaching syllabus and its influence on Chinese teaching,which is the background and premise of this study.The third chapter analyzes the application of game teaching method in Chinese teaching in New Zealand from the point of necessity and feasibility,and discusses the functions and design principles of teaching games.The fourth chapter introduces the teaching practice at specific schools in detail,and carries on the concrete example analysis to the three representative games,finally analyzes and summarizes the teaching effect from classroom observation and the questionnaire.On the basis of that,it then put forward the possible problems of game teaching method and issues that need to be noticed.Based on the previous theoretical results and the author ’s practical experience,this paper discovers that the students will screen,internalize,reorganize and reconstruct the input language knowledge in the course of the game and apply it to activities and communication.It also demonstrates the important role of the game teaching method in creating a good classroom atmosphere,enhancing the fun of classroom and stimulating learners’ interest in learning,and puts forward personal views on game teaching method,so as to provide valuable reference for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
